I've used it in the Gulf a couple of times in Clearwater, FL since it's about 50 miles away. It's a great beater board. I bought it for $300 and it was in good condition. I damaged it a bit, but I let it dry out for 2 weeks then I epoxied it. Turned out great. I surfed it with the epoxy and it held up awesomely. You can epoxy a little bit more if you want, but it isn't really needed. The fins are not detachable. I was going to paint it, but I am moving to CO and it's really hard to surf there. If you want to paint it I can tell/show you how to do it along with damage touch-ups.

Damage: Bottom - Top left gouge (Epoxied). Right Side Rail - Gouge (Epoxied). Nose - Chipped tip (Don't worry about it. Didn't go down to fiberglass).
