61 Year Older Man Body Slammed by Cop

didnt listen to the video, but judging by the video the cop tried to detain the man, the man resisted, cop acted as he should have.

This "Fuck the police" attitude is so ridiculous. Ill admit in many cases recently, cops have poorly reacted to situations, but cops do more good than bad. Its just a shame how the mass media blows up the bad stories.

The officer just grabbed the man. He didn't say he was arresting him or anything like that. So when an officer grabs you without saying anything obviously you're going to shrug him off.

And then you're going to get body slammed. It may not have been right, but once you start flailing your arms and resisting the cop, you're going to have a bad time.

He wasn't doing anything wrong so why get all hostile once the cop shows up? That's only going to make things worse.

And this is where the problem lies. Police abusing their power because they can. I believe it says police can use reasonable force. Do you honestly think that was reasonable force? The old man didn't resist arrest because the officer never said he was under arrest. The old man went to walk away, the cop put his hands on him to stop him from walking away then old man shrugged him off then the officer slammed him into the ground without any second thought.

He wasn't doing anything wrong, so why did the officer even need to show up in the first place?

It certainly looks like excessive force was used, but we don't know if there is any kind of history between the police and this guy. We don't know if something was said that could only be heard from close quarters.

There is only so much that security cameras and cell phones can show and they can only provide so much context and no background info to situations like this.

It's stupid to just say that police are 'abusing their powers because they can' without more info.

Even if the old man said something like "fuck off pig" when the cop touched him, that does not give the officer the right to slam the old man into the ground. Again it all comes down to reasonable force, and no matter the history, what was said, or anything else the officer used excessive force.

I agree that it was probably excessive, but I don't know anything about what was happening.

I tend to give people in these situations the benefit of the doubt because there is often a ton info we don't know.

For example, I'm a social worker. There have been a few situations in the past year where foster kids have died in foster homes. There have been tons of news articles on these situations where social workers get tossed under the bus. They talk to bio-parents who say their kids were taken for no reason. Of course, the social workers in question can't respond because of confidentiality legislation, so the public doesn't know about the abuse and neglect and drug abuse that led to apprehending kids. They also don't know about the myriad of complicated health issues that contributed to the death of the child, not the terrible foster parents and social workers that are blamed.

There are always multiple sides to a story and a cell phone only captures a bit.

Yeah I see where you're coming from dude and for the most part I agree. I usually hate the whole fuck the police band wagon because the majority of officers do an amazing job in such a thankless environment.

From what I've read about this incident is that the old man told him to fuck off and that's when the officer slammed him into the ground. The 15 or so witness's said he was not aggressive and didn't touch the officer despite the guards saying he did. (you've seen the video, he didn't touch the officer)

You have no idea how hard and how dangerous it is to be a cop.

There was absolutely no justifiable charge for his arrest, the man wasn’t resisting arrest, he was assaulted by a badge with a gun, nothing more, nothing less.

Your dad’s probably a cop.

Hate to break it but My dad is not a cop. Like I said, my volume was off because I watched it during class. Like most of these stories, Im assuming there is information that the viewer does not know about. Such as the man was on private property doing this, was asked to leave, didnt leave so the cops were called.

Cops arnt criminals

Cops aren’t criminals. Yes, most of them are not but some of them are. I still believe that the cop used excessive force.
