I am 5'3" and more into big mountain, but hit the park on groomer days., I am looking at 185's. I have skied 180's and 168's. my experience is very high, and am expanding as i go, at mtbaker WA. I have looked at volkl chpsticks, and k2 hellbents, which seem to fit my description.

Weight would be helpful to know because it is generally more important than height. Big pow skis you can use in the park: EP Pros, Hellbents, Surface New Life, ON3P Caylor, Bentchetler and I'm sure loads of others. Chopsticks are pretty heavy and have a pretty high swingweight so maybe not those.

with your lighter weight, the ep pros would be good if you want a big, full on pow ski. If not, something like LL2's or bacons (if you don't want rocker) would be good for someone your size

there is a set of hellbents in my area (bellingham) which are 189's but since they are rockered the effective edge would be less, I am looking for a rocker setup. These might work, yet i dont know if they would be unweildly big.

if you're comfortable on long skis, its doable. Most of NS seems to think skis are an indication of anatomy size, so everyone will say you'll be fine on here. K2 measures their skis pretty long though, so those bents would be around 193-194. Granted the effective edge would be small like you said, but thats a lot of weight for you to through around with how small you are.

yeh i agree. you are 5'3 and 140 pounds. Definitely go for the 179 Bents (measures 183-4) if you go for bents. EP pros are almost exactly the same length as 179 Bents but softer and lighter. Surface New Lifes in a 184 are symmetrical and stiffer and I would guess they will do the best at "big mountain" of the three, while still jibbing well and being fun in the Park. Personally I think, If you want stiffer go for the New Life, If you want softer I'd go for the EPs but Hellbents will be more of a balance between soft and stiff (they are still pretty soft though).

moment night trains are also a fat jib ski that kill it every where I use the 180 for a 90% soft snow ski and my buddy we are both similar weight and size to you has the 170's and uses them for anything and everything they kill it all over.

most of the skis suggested here are pretty wide. will this be your only skis or will they be part of a quiver?

if they are your only skis i would suggest something in the 113-120 waisted range... check out the moment bibbys, atomic bentchetlers or salomon czar (might be a bit narrow..)

if you are into big mountain for real you may not like the ep's. i love mine but found them to be kinda noodly on big landings. i like my bent chetlers cuz they are stiffer and shorter since i'm only 5'2".

Rumour is that Surface is making a New Life in a mid 170 size, I'm holding out for that. I feel like 180 would be too much ski for you, and trust me I'm a fan of new skis, but if you're hellbent on buying something of that size you should look at EP Pro's since they are very light and soft.

i would look at some obsethed's in a 179 (k2 is supposed to run longer anyway)

unless you really want a heavier fatter ski for the type of pow skiing in nimbus videos, then i would go with what has already been suggested... fat, rockered, and soft

Well on my local craigslist i found a set of armada ARG's, and bought them. First i had demoed the same set the prvious day so i was not buying blindly. Very fun ski, and fits my style.
