just got a fuckin ticket and my court date is 4/10. my state has this retarded law that if your under 18 and have a ticket or an accident that is you fault then the judge can take away your liscense. now here is my question. how do i not get my liscense suspended? like ive heard if you tell them you need it to get to work or school they're more lenient. by the way im in ohio.

relax, I got a 97 in a 65, just a fine. I've heard of people getting pulled over at 110 without a suspended liscence.

im looking at my ticket now and theres some stuff in my favor. the cop marked dry roads, good visibility, no adverse road condidtions, and light traffic. so its not like i was being dangerous. i think im also gonna play the "im a good kid" card. tell them its my 1st ticket, never had an accident, have a 3.8 in school etc.

go talk to the cop. Cops that I know (friends) love it when you take the initiative and have the gumption to talk to a cop. Go in, be polite, explain why you don't deserve to get your license taken away, etc etc etc. Also, if your parents know, you'll probably get grounded and you could tell the cop that. Then, you could say that your parents are only allowing you to use your car for school, volunteering, work, etc. You'll probably still have to pay the fine, but he/she may be willing to take the points off. Worked for me.

haha the judge probably wont want to hear how great of a person you are, no one cares what your grades are if they are punishing you for speeding

doesn't matter. I didn't know the cop, called up the department, made an appointment and explained what I just said in my other post. The cop DOES have the ability to lessen a sentence and change the details. They have a specific form for lowering speeding ticket points/fines.

i live in ohio. when i was 16 i got a ticket for 54 in a 35. i had to go to court, but since it was my first offense, i just had to pay a fine. don't sweat it, you'll be fine. that is, unless you were chugging a bottle of vodka while getting head from a 9 year old. then you'd be fucked.

^yeah if i get off just paying a fine and having my insurance go up then id be pretty happy. just curious how much was your guys fines?

Call the department and ask who has the ID # or license plate # on your ticket, if there's nothing on your ticket that has any ID for him, bummer man.

uh yeah your gonna be fine dont worry about it, and its traffic court by the way, not juvinille court, big difference

^what was ur fine? i know it could have been way worse. its a street right by my house that i usually go through at about 65 but a car pulled in front of me and forced me to slow down to 53

my friend got a 80 in a 65, no suspension just fine, we were on our way to get my skis mounted by snowtrailsmark before snowtrails big air because mark needed to get out to the jump, hence the speeding... wasnt worth it

69 in a 35, went and talked nice to the chief and got a suspended sentence (first ticket) provided I took a defensive driving course. 1 year later it was off my record for good, yay me. Try doing that.

you'll just get fined.

I live in ohio. my brother got a ticket when he was under 18, and he only got fined. He's almost 21 now though.. i dont think that the law changed though so you should be fine.

well at least its not ski season here anymore. id be really bummed if my liscense was suspended and i couldnt ski for a month.

at the time i had already gotten two other tickets so i got a laywer and took it all to court and only had to pay 100 court fee

well i just told my dad and he was really cool about it. he just said like "i told you u drive too fast" and "you gotta pay for it" no punishment. havent told my mom yet though. she can get really pissed about stuff, if you spill milk at dinner she goes off like you killed someone

i got a 64 in a 25, dont complain =D but i got my court date on april 4th so i'll tell you what happened to me

^dude your prolly screwed cuz 25 zones are for residential neighborhoods usually. or school zones either way they'll prolly take that into account

you only have to go to court if you want to fight it. if not, you just go in to the courthouse and pay the fine. end of story. am i wrong?
