Looking or a fast prime around 30mm focal length.

Anyone got any suggestions? im using a 7d/t2i

Rokinon 35mm f/1.4

Sigma 30mm f/1.4

and I think canon makes one around 28mm?

Has anyone done any tests with these? Which is better for video?

I've hear good things about the old pentax 50mm, is there an old lens at 30mm?

I would still look into 50mm's if I were you, love my 50mm 1.4 on my 60d.

Its basically the equivilant of 80mm on a full frame, which is close to the popular 85mm focal length.

Olympus om zuiko 28mm, it's f/3.5 but it's nice and sharp, really cheap about $40ish I think, good colors

id agree with getting a 50mm, i didnt think id like mine at first but its perfectly fine even if its a little tighter than a 50 on a full frame. Ill throw in my 2 cents tho: look into older glass. if you dont mind manual focus (or even just get used to it) you can get some pretty awesome, very fast lenses for pretty cheap. I have a ricoh 50mm f1.7 that I use with an adapter (extra $15) on my T3i and I love it.

the simga 30mm 1.4 is a great lens. if you're doing video, you could get a much cheaper nikon (or other vintage glass) 28mm or 35mm that would perform just as well as the sigma for a 1/4 of the price. a 28mm 2.8 or 35mm 2.8 will be like 100 bucks, 35mm f2 will be 150-200

but is entirely hit or miss like all of sigma's glass. If you get a good copy it's fantastic, but be prepared to send it back a few times till you get one of those, they are very prone to focus issues and being overly soft.

yeah i have heard that, makes me wanna say if youre doing video to skip it and buy an old nikon.

Personally I don't like the 50mm focal length on a crop. Really inconvenient a lot of times.

But if you want a 50mm, get SMC Takumar 50mm.
