I think that the NS Staff should do something about this.

I remember way back in 2002 there were around 10,000 members and 200 guests. Now its reaching 50,000 members and over 450 guests per day. This Community is no more, its becoming as a population. I propose that Guests are not allowed to see any of the forums and cults and Pics. Its not personal anymore, for example the phone thread. Over 10 pages of it. Guests could collect the Data and start randomly calling people or worse

All I am saying is we should limit the restrictions for Guests now because NS is reaching 50,000 member and over 450 guests per day.

If they want to join NS, they have to become a member.

If all of those guests started becoming members, wouldn't that make the NS 'population' even bigger? Isn't that what you don't want?

Just post phone numbers of random people from your phone book and the next morning hear them tell you some story about some ass hole calling them at 3 in the morning on their cell phone and about the conversation they tried to carry on with them.

Thats what you should do.

 
that's the joy of posting cell numbers, you can't just pull up a name and address off line. i would NEVER post my home #. ever. and i've yet to post my cell, because i fear lateralis or mommy calling me, and asking for 'favors'

i think that making only ski gabber available to guests would be a good idea. that way, they can get a feel for the SKIING side of the site (it is a ski site, you know), but not anything else. that's just me though....... my $0.02

i was thinking that earlier too but i thought i would get flamed by the 45000 12 year olds. but i think that guest should have 10 clicks on the site to see if the like it or not and then there done and have to sign up as a member. having 450-500 guests is whats making the site so slow lately, they should do what i said earlier or just put a 250 guest cap on the site

limit there acces evan more, and if they keep on cuming bak under guests ban the IPs from the server for a couple of weeks so they either register or piss off

 
well not ban their IP, cuz that's pretty mean, but say, put a limit to how many kilobytes you can access as a guest.

i think the majority of the members are kids who are too lazy to log in on their own accounts. if you get rid of guests, then it would encourage people to use their member names to get on.

if you log in as a guest, you have to log out as a guest... in order for ur 'online guest number' to go down. whereas if you dont log out and ur a member your name just goes away within a few minutes. but maybe a way for guests not to be allowed to get on on computers where their is already a member from that ip... but that would be pretty hard to do. (i think? but im no computer geek so i wouldnt know)

but im afraid if you eliminate guests all together than people who are thinking of joining the site wont be able to see what it's like w/out becoming a member. and if those sort of people do become members JUST to try it out, if they dont like it, than you have tons of inactive members on ur hands.

when a member accesses NS.com before they sign in they are considered a guest therefore they are not all random people looking at the site, they may just not have signed in yet.

I gotta agree with dspin on this one I mean I know people on here by there name but I don't actually know them, what makes people who ahve members names any less wierd or crazy than someone who is a guest? Also anything you post in teh regular forums can't be that private or personal becuase if it was something you'd be worried about people seeing you wouldn't have posted it, thats what cults are for and stuff.

just wondering why login as a guest all the time...its takes an extra click to become a member. just makes no sense to me. i signed up before i even saw what ns.com was...i thought at the time it was maybe a graphitti site look at the old blue sign-in with the NS tag logo
