50 most influential people in action sports

"Once an X Games medalist, Candide Thovex went on to win the overall title of the Freeride World Tour. This year, he debuted a feature film called "Few Words," which brought the versatile French skier to the mainstream."

hashaha!!!!

idiots

so apparently Candide was an unknown before "Few Words"?? jokes.

also very very surprised McConkey isn't on that list. or Hall. They're certainly both more influential than Wallisch.

He deserves to be, weather anyone likes or not is immaterial. There is no denying that he has been hugely influential for the snowboard industry.

But yes Mcconkey definitely deserves to be on this list far more than the founder of Twitter or even Wallish

i guess from the beginning that kelly was gonna be #1 /claimi was stoked to see sarah in front of wallnutz on that one too.

no mcconkey and sandigold on the list are the major issues. swollem members deserves to be on that list more than sandigold if were talking influential music ha. Overall, its a good list but i disagree with the order but its also xgames/espn/abc/disney making this list so whatever

Mconkey - skiing , steve barra - skate. van doren family - started vans, paul shmitt - skate

thats who ild add.

Here are some more names to add to the list...

How about fucking ERIC KOSTON

Where the heck was SETH MORRISSON

Not to mention ROBBIE NAISH and LAIRD HAMILTON

CAPSLOCK!

I'm disappointed at this list. They left out some massive names, the one most prominent to me being Dane Searls, you know that guy who flipped the biggest dirt jumps ever hit on a bmx? He was one of the last few progressing that aspect of the sport. Not to mention he died the day after he did so...

IDK if I want to read it. Usually these lists kind of blow. Like reading the rolling stone tops for music and all that stuff.

I'm going to give it a shot and hope I don't hate it.

Chris Sharma for climbing should've been on that list with out a doubt. And as for Ken Block being that high up, sure his videos are mad cool and got a lot of views, but there are much more deserving people of that spot.

Twitter? Are you fucking kidding me? They left a whole spot that could have gone to somebody good because of fucking twitter?

Santigold? WTF is this shit

Glad to see Edwin in there at 27. Dude was unreal for street bmx.

Sweet youtube? Really? Yeah youtube is great but the people that made youtube are more influential than the people actually participating? Bullshit.

The go pro I totally agree with.

7: Ken Block? Now I really lost all respect that I had left for this list.

I actually kind of agree with the top 3 and don't think they're horrible choices.

pretty rad list of people, didnt know alot of them, but i felt the top five were pretty accurate, tony hawk should have been in top five and i think travis should have been first imo

10. Tony Hawk

9. Nyjah Huston

what in the fuck?

Ken Block should not even be on the list.

I pretty much agree with the top 6 though

ken block gets more views on one of his rally videos than most of those other athletes will get on everything they ever create. (granted he is not a good rally driver overall)

oh and he helped create DC, which is one of the biggest action sports companies in existence.

So I'd say he probably deserves to be on that list more than a few others do

He's on that list because of his rally driving, it barely mentions anything about dc.

The list is bunk as fuck. It kind of looked like they just sat down and made the list in a half hour with the first people that came to mind.

then that's just messed up. Still gotta credit him for his rally videos....but let's take a look at his results...

the best he's ever done in WRC is 19th. This year he finished 26th, with 4 points. The winner, who should be on that list, Sebastien Loeb, finished with 270 points...

Its easy to bitch at this list, but we have to remember that we are not the mainstream. This list is for the people who casually watch the Xgames. Just because we know Thovex, doesn't mean the world does. Honestly, despite some minor flaws, I thought it was pretty good

The way they picked people was ridiculous. How is somebody that has some skill coming up that more influential than people who invented most of the tricks in some of the sports.

I don't really see why they need to classify rally in their anyway. It's racing. Yeah it's more action sports related but it's a racing sport.

Xgames has jumped on the dick of every racing event they can get because it brings in fans.

Supermoto, enduro, rally, racing is good for views. I'm not saying rally isn't awesome, but I just feel there are much more deserving people at the heart of action sports.

Maybe it's a shit opinion, but that's how I view it.

Yeah. Most influential. Tony hawk did more for skateboarding than really anyone can even hope to come close to.

If it's about bringing it to the mainstream. What about THPS. When that game dropped pretty sure lots of people were brought into skating. What about the first ever 900.

The fact that some chick that makes music I don't listen to is more influential to action sports than people who pushed the sport to new levels, blew peoples minds pushing the limits, brought tons of attention to the sport, people that I grew up idolizing and looking at pictures in ride bmx, tranworld, and other mags, some of them, who died or were seriously injured progressing their sports, is just fucking ridiculous.

And twitter? seriously. Was the person that made this list on crack.

Hell what about the person who invented the internet. What about the person that invented the snowmobile. What about the person that invented the car.

With out cars people wouldn't be able to get to the mountains or skateparks and action sports wouldn't be what they are.

I would go as far as to say tony hawk paved the way for action sports in general. He was undeniably the most recognized action sports athlete ever before pastrana/shaun white appeared on the scene.

Tony should be top 5.

What about the creators of red bull? They pump sooooo much money into the sport. I don't think Shaun White should be that high either. And I'd agree that Shane should be on there.
