i know that most 'pros' don't get that much, but I mean, if all you were getting was some clothing and a few pairs of skis from Atomic, would you really let them use your picture in their ads? I wouldn't. They've gotta be gettin at least some sort of loot out of it. I mean steel's like 19, or 20, right? He obviously doesn't have time for college right now, he's got travel expenses all the time probably, and I doubt he has much time to work. So how's he gettin by?

 
Gettin by, exactly. Most pro's I know just barely scrape by. They get cash from getting pictures in mags, winning comps, and then they get a travel stipend to spend while on the road. Most pro's sleep on couches with freinds and support their skiing with either their parents cash(Tanner and CR when they started) or with the cash they make over the summers (all the TGR guys worked on fishing boats together). There is some cash, and if you have five sponsors your income is obviously five times larger, but it's damn hard to make money and ski for a living.

steele is in college though...but yah, they dotn make much, but if you think about it, basically everything is provided for them. where do you spend most your money? thinka bout how much you've spent on clothes, ski gear, ski clothes, travel expenses...everything like that is paid for..so ther really isn't that much left...and who really MINDS sleeping on a friends couch?

tanner hall makes a 6 figure sum so do a few other pros.

the aveage pro skier makes around 30,000us a year from all of there sponsors thats not very good compared to other sports but this is why we need to surrport rider owned companys like 4fnt,Armarda,Ulta-matum and siver cartel this way athletes will start getting pro models and making alot more money.

also in ski press magazine they talked with tanner for there wsi issue when he was on the cover and he said he was getting a pro model for next year does any one know if he was testing new armadas this summer??

 
don't say shit about steele's parents and the whole 'living in aspen thing.' that is totally lame. i've known steele and his family for countless numbers of years and they are all hard workers...their whole family deserves what they get. it does suck that most pros don't get paid enough for the shit they do, but most of them love it enough or they wouldn't want to make the effort to scrape by.

to answer one of the previous questions about the armada pro models, armada will have a designed by series where the athlete has total control over look of the ski starting in the 04-05 season!

yeah, steele's in college right now. i talked to him at whistler and he only coached at world a couple of weeks cause his school was starting on July 14. he said he's studying graphic design at an art school in denver - trying go get the schoolin in so that he'll be ready to snag a job in the industry designing ski graphics or something like that when he's done skiing competitively. he's pretty much non-stop year round between skiing and school - hard worker. hopefully his sponsors pay him enough cause he sure doesn't have time to have a real job.
