4FRNT**READ

Ok, so before christmas, i bought a pair of 4frnt stls. Everything was great, until they started delaming(topsheet entirely peeled up for 10 inches over the entire width of the ski), having the edge pop out at the tip, and i finally snappend one. I brought them into my local shop, and they sent them out for warrentee.

heres where it gets wierd:

got one new ski back, and the delaminated old one, with the reccomendation that i (and i quote) "Epoxy it back togther myself"

what the fuck? what is this? A pair of your skis delaminated because of whatever error you made in manufacturing, and you tell me to expoy it back together myself? Bullshit. give me a new one. Thats bad customer service.

/rant.

opinions?

It should be covered under your warranty that they either replace your skis, or fix the damaged ones. Send em back and keep trying. I suggest calling them up instead of emailing them.

i think im gonna call up the rep and bitch. ill state the warrentee verbatim word for word if i have to.

I had the same problem , I kept emailing them and didnt get any answer so I called them and they didnt want to do anything and kept telling me it was my fault, after 5 calls they decided to give me 1, only 1 used ski to replace the broken one,

and if 4frnt can't afford a warranty they should stop making ski right now. Plus, at the beggining they said they had the best warranty (2years) but now they changed it to 1 years then to No warranty ,I call bullshit

how do they justify saying that?

epoxy it yourself? thats not a warrentee.

just got off the phone with the rep, pretty much just as frustrated as before, basically he told me its not their fault, and they wont warrentee it.

hahaha......if your planks snapped......it is most likely not their fault......this is why.

this seems to be the common trend, ive known four people alone that this has happened to. it sucks, but many skis have blown up, and they arent doing shit.

incorrect. actually, the snapped ski is the one they warrenteed. the one that had the topsheet fall off, they returned to me.and whoever said most skis will delam at some point, true. but within 3 months of when you bought them? that doesnt seem right. plus, the delaminated ski has an edge ripping out at the tip, and not from a collison or anything. you cant tell me one of those isnt a warrentee.

look at what ski you are all talking about! It is the lightest park ski on the market! You don't see MSPs breaking in half, and if they did you'd get new ones. We can't expect skis to both spin to win and last for years. Armadas are the other best park skis and they don't hold up either, at all, and their warrenty sucks too. If rails were made of softer metal our edges wouldn't crack but we'd destroy the features so they always will break our edges. If you cross your tips you're going to eff up your topsheets. The only thing I can say is make skis like this one cheaper because it is not a $575 ski it's a $250 ski that breaks. You're right that there shouldn't be $500+ skis that break like this. Trust me the market will tell them to figure that out eventually.

i wasnt asking for it to last for years. one entire season would be nice. and the topsheet wasnt from crossing edges. it was separating from the core, by the toepiece of my binding towards the tip, across the entire ski. my underfoot edges are fine, and i hit rails all the time. this is the edge seam by the tip that separated, adn started popping out.

plus, youre wrong, they arent the lightest park ski. my stealths are lighter by quite a bit.

HOw close to u is the 4 frnt factory

if its like a couple hours just drive there and bitch about ur ski

it'd be worth the drive

if you hit one rail.....just one......you risk busting your skis....no matter how old they are......it happens. And that is what the company assumes.....plus you could have left it to some close source of heat........which equals de-lams.

dude, its NOT rail damage. NOT. i keep my skis upside down in a rack in my basement..cool/dry. theyve never been near a source of heat, dry em off after every use, keep em waxed, even epoxy chips in the topsheet, id say i take good care of them.

if you can explain to me how sliding a rail underfoot damages the very tip of my ski, then possibly you have a point.

it probably has to do with their changing factories, now they share with option snowboards. i've heard way more breakage stories this year than any before.

i was JUST going to say that

but yeah, ive heard that 4frnt warrenty really sucks. ive ridden the 4frnt msps, and i was not impressed at all. you can feel every little bump and they chatter like a mother. i would ride my scratches over them anyday.

yup, we see more Armada and 4frnt warranties too...The easy explanation (and the one you favour) is that the skis are built like shit.

The harder, more legitimate explanation revolves around intended usage and market. When a ski is designed to attract a rider that beats their gear, slides rails, lands sizable airs, and generally goes full out at all times, it doesn't sell to Mr. "I ski 5 days a year". It sells to kids who beat the living shit out of their gear.

Now, a twintip ski made by Salomon, rossi, [insert random company name here] tends to sell to middle of the road, slightly aggressive, somewhat hard skiers. Armada/4frnt, on the other hand, typically sell to kids who ride park, and older "kids" who fuck shit up all over the place.

Is it therefore surprising that your store, located in a freeskiing hotbed from what I understand, has warrantied 3 Armadas and 1 4frnt? Not at all. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it should be expected. Yes, I'd be willing to bet that a higher proportion of Armadas will be warrantied, as compared to, say, Salomon, Volkl, etc. The nature of the customer buying something made by Armada or 4frnt is different.

I'd love to see real return rate figures from all ski companies, so we can finally legitimately compare and end this bullshit.

man i had TM's for two years oif hard riding and they never came close to delamming the only thing i ever had a prob with is edges but they fixed that for next year

wow that sucks... when my buddy broke his Stls... he sent in one ski and they sent him abck two.... so now he has three awesome stls (they are the old plaid ones though)

My STLs delamed on both tips after about 10 days on them. I sent them back and they are going to warranty them. Problem is they don't have any 183s left, so I will get next years skis...next year. Glad I was able to find another pair of skis for the rest of the year.

here in europe we have got also these problems with the 4frnt skis. I bought a pair of STLs 2 months ago and now on one of them the edge is broken two times and on the other one the edge is delaminated from the sidewall....4frnt don't want to give me a replacement...I heard that also from some buddies, they have got the same problems.....this really sucks...I'll never buy 4fnt again...the are awesome to ride, but the quality and the warranty is the worst I ever had seen...

i am pritty sure that their warrenty says that you cant warrenty them after you have hit objects other than snow...

yea man 4frnt is really going downhill fast on their customer service. I've heard numerous stories from friends about them not doing shit. ITS A PAIR OF SKIS!! if you have ever been to a factory there are skis just lying around everywhere. its not that hard to ship another pair.

at the beginning of this season I had a pair of Völkl's Dogen...this ski is also produced in very bad quallity in china...the tip of one of them has been broken after three days of riding. I did a kicker on the third day just 4 times...too much for the ski....I sent it back to völkl and they gave me a new pair 10 days later....that's a good customer service...

i think some companies are starting to realise this, like k2 they bring out the fuji cheap park ski, lots of people love it, they even seem to hold up well but you wouldn't be so bumed if they refused to warranty over something like this. now they even have a cheaper option. i really think people pay too much money for a park specific ski... you just can't expect edges and top sheets to last very long, however much you pay.

it's gutting to have this stuff go wrong if you haven't caused it yourself... the problem is 4frnt have no idea wether the edge on the tip of your ski came loose cos you treat your stuff badly or cos their manufacturing was bad. you cna't proove it, they can't so they don't have to warranty. welsome to buying skis, sometimes you can own a pair that last years sometimes you'll snap them in a day. it sucks but you can rarely do shit all about it.

I delammed 5 inches of tip on my Big Troubles the first day I hit big kicker on them and Dynastar wouldn't warranty them. It happens. Epoxy and rivet them, mine are holding up fine, although I don't ski park on them any more.

i find it funny cause 4frnt did the same thing to a kid i know who rode FOR them...haha. luckily he doesn't ride for that shitshow anymore.

Both of my pairs of 4frnts are perfectly fine. I take great care of them on the mountain and off the mountain.

People think they can just bash the shit out of skis and bend them in weird positions.

Warranties are touchy subjects man. Kids tend to think that just because their ski breaks they should get new ones for free. Well reality check man, you arent sponsored.

Maybe you just suck at skiing and bash them together all the time and bash them off of boxes, rails and rocks and shit, maybe not. But treat ur skis as if you would treat a nice car and they will last alot longer.

funny thing about that...my friend WAS sponsored by them, but even when his skis were delamming/edges coming out/topsheet coming off/sidewalls all fucked up, they didn't give him new skis. yay 4frnt.

^dude there are different levels of sponsorships man. He got FREE skis, yes thats right free. That doesnt mean he has an endless supply of free skis. He is probably only eligible for one pair of free skis per season since its a low level sponsorship.

he had gotten one pair, and in previous years gotten two. this pair was fucked, and they didn't replace the one pair he had.
