4frnt bindings

Does anyone have any details on these? I know they aren't going to be available for retail anytime soon, but has anyone heard what they are trying to do with them(ex. lines dual pivogy or whatever)?

.

There's another thread about this. Basically it just talks about them beaing manufactured by a company called VIST, in Italy I believe. They once used to make Nordica's bindings, but that project was abandoned and Nordica now uses Marker Bindings. Haven't heard too much about the technology, but I would assume that it will be similar to that of the Nordica bindings, in which case 4FRNT might be adding some freeride specific elements to them and what not.

The best overview of 4FRNT's binding is on their website.

better to burn out...

...then fade away

Nordica's VIST bindings were the worst binings ever made that is why they went to marker. The Season they sold their All Mountain Beast Package integrated with them TWO of my shop guys were majorly injured as a direct result of binding malfunction. One of them was flying down a chute in the Pallisades at Sugar Bowl and he had a ski release for no reason and he tomahawked for like 100 yards. The other guy was mid air on a table when he looked down and saw only one ski! He had to have major shoulder surgery. A lighter weight freeride version of that concept is frightening.

your a fuckin retard, they are a good binding that i have personally used so shut the fuck up and dont try to trash a reputable company that is only trying to put the best equipment on the market, so fuk you, you fukin newbie.

^ the dude had evidence to back up his claim. and just the fact that nortica pulled its line from them and went to marker strikes a few worries in my mind. if you are looking for information on them they are in the buyers guide in powder magizine

Guys, the only reason Nordica stopped using the binding is because they were forced to. Nordica was bought out by Tecnica, which also owned Marker. Tecnica forced Nordica to abandon the Synergy binding and incorporate Marker's instead, to help Marker's market share.

Ask anyone who works for Nordica and they will tell you VIST makes a superior binding. No one from Nordica was happy to abandon the project.

I know this for a fact, because I worked in-house for Nordica when this was going on...

Kudos to 4FRNT for re-releasing a great binding

^^^Neither Nordica nor Marker has EVER been owned/ afilliated with Technica, I have been dealing all three for 5 years. K2 owns Marker, Technica is independently owned, as is volkyl by the way. Of course Nordica is going to claim their binding is safe, I mean what are they going to do recall them all? Those bindings were all integrated on their skis, meaning they would have to goive away thousands of new skis with bindings. Furthermore I'm shocked to have been accused of 'ruining a great reputation' as anyone prominant in the industry (without monitary interest) will tell you that binding was crap. Every Nordica Rep on the West coast had either a Salomon or Fritsche Freeride binding on their own pairs. By the way anyone notice a resemblance to the new ATOMIC Neox bindings. Atomic bought the rights to reengineer the Nordica Toe and slapped on a Salomon heel.

^YOU ARE AN IDIOT. So let me break it down for you like you're a 4 year old.

-In the late 90's Marker went bankrupt, and Tecnica bought them out.

-K2 recently (3 months ago) purchased Marker from Tecnica, along with Volkl and Marmot clothing.

-Nordica was bought by Tecnica from Bennenton in ealry 2003, and Tecnia STILL OWNS THEM, along with Elan and Dolomite.

-Volkl and Tecnica are seperate companies in Europe, but the US distributor aligns them together in the US, (why all the reps are Volkl AND Tecnica), this will continue for the next 4 years.

So YES, the Nordica binding project was dropped because Tecnica saw it in their best interest to spread Marker's market share by using their bindings instead. The Nordica binding IS superior than a Marker (I can't believe you're even arguing that). The only problem I saw was the SYSTEM (Synergy) they incorporated with it-NOT THE BINDING ITSELF. Which is all 4FRNT is offering. They're still giving you the choice to chose. But Sterbenz is like 6'1, 195 lbs, and he's not breaking them, I highly doubt an un-informed donkey like you could.

UT's right. And Atomic didn't re-design ANYTHING, it's always been the Nordica toe and Salomon heel. The toe works like a cross between a Rossi/Look and a Salomon. From what I read in the new Freeze, 4FRNT's tinkering with the heel hole pattern for better support on switch landings.

Well first, don't go out with the impression that they aren't good because 4Frnt is a new company....etc. You have to know that they technically aren't their bindings....as said many times above they are made by a Italian based company called VIST. They are a sweet binding. I have first hand experience-I used them at Camp Of Champs. So know that they technically aren't 4frnt's bindings, they just have VIST make htem for them. 4frnt will, though, be adding some freeride elements into them....as talked about in the newest FREEZE.

Yeah, but who DOES make their OWN binding? Think about it-Nordica/ Elan both use Marker but call it their own. Fischer uses Salomon but calls it their own. ROSSI uses LOOKs but call them Rossi's, remember folks, LOOK was first, Rossi used to use Geze bindings.

As long as it's a SOLID product, just support the company you like, right?

They used Salomon 3 seasons ago...and only the low end Salomons when they did.

Anyways, glad some people on here can actually admit when theyre wrong and dont try to argue til the death over it.
