Hey, I'm just curious to how people get $ or gold after their name, is it because of their karma or contributions?

in the nsstore you can donate money to the site and you get different symbols for the more you donate

donations, look under the NS store section and look for "contributor status" you can also earn it by buying things from the store. let's say you buy $15 worth of stuff at the store and then donate $35 you get the gold coin which is worth $50 so your donations are cumulative

I don't know if that's right because I bought $5 contributor status and an afterbang hoodie. So if you are right I should have double yellow$$.

i dont think buying stuff gets you contributer status at least not anymore i would have like double gold coins if it did

You get contributor status by buying it, I don't think it's cumulative based on store-spend.

well i bought an ns shirt and a sticker pack totaling 15 dollars. i got a green dollar sign. then i donated 35 dollars to NS and i got the gold coin
so i'm pretty sure it's cumulative, at least it was when i donated

I don't think that's the case. I've bought many things from the store, and only have my symbol from donating to a charity. If it was cumulative, then my symbol would have changed.

I think it would be smart of NS to combine donations and purchases into an icon. It would be cool to support NS, but i would rather buy $50 worth of hoodies and stickers than just give $50 straight up. Or buy a hoodie and donate $15.

I feel like such a keener for saying this, but it's been on my mind for the past couple of days

I would be down for like, a monthly donation type of deal, kind of like with amnesty int'l or oxfam where once a month a set amount just slides off your credit card.

NS was bought out in order to avoid having a monthly payment for members (and for obvious other reasons). We enjoy not having to pay for its use =)

fair enough, I didn't know NS was bought out ... by whom, if you don't mind me asking?

Also, I was thinking it could be added as an option in the store, in addition to the one time contributions, but I figure it would probably be more expensive to set up than it would be worth anyway.
