450 help

This thread depends on a video that I am trying to attach. Most of the time when I throw a front 450 I land back seat, wash out, and kill my shins. I am wondering if any of you could help me with some tips. Sometimes I get them better then others but i don't know what I am doing differently on them compared to the times I fall. Thanks!

Aww shit its just a pic. How do i attach a vid without posting it? I did the "choose files" thing and selected my .mp4

Get the YouTube capture app and post the video to YouTube (it takes like 2 minutes) then just copy the link to the message of the thread

When you leave the rail, don't forget to pop. You can get away with not popping on front 2's but it's more important to do so for real spins.

Also, you're probably opening up your front shoulder too much. Keep it down when you set your spin and use your hips to initiate the spin rather than your shoulders. Hope that helps!

I know your pain so hard op, took me forever to get over this. the key things that helped me were:

Don't pop so hard. seems counter intuitive but often an excessive pop stalls rotation and sets you backseat.

Learn K feds and get very good at them. K feds are basically interrupted front 4s and they will get you scissoring really hard which is vital.

LOOK. wherever your head and chest are going, your skis tend to follow. talk 180s out of boxes for example, its all about turning your chest 90 degrees or so while on the box because tour feet follow naturally.

Practice a lot and you'll have your ahah moment and they will get a lot easier. took a little while for me but i have them on lock now. Good luck.

on some of them it looks like you look down at your feet. also on the first few it seemed like you wanted to stop looking when you got to 270. make sure you keep looking until you finish the 4 and dont look down.

just got this trick, but never had this problem a good thing to note would be not to pop super hard otherwise it could be a jerky motion and would make the spin uncomfortable.

The absolute biggest thing that helped me learn this trick is to keep your head up while sliding on the box or rail. So normally with a front 270 off you would keep your eyes on the landing the whole time scissor your feet and then pop to spin and your head staring at the landing would counteract your spin to stop it at 270. So try at keep your eyes and head looking at the end or a little above the end of the box as apposed to the landing or looking down at your skis which you may be doing without even realizing.

Pop onto the feature, keep your head up and looking at the end of the feature not at your skis as you get to the end wind up your back arm a little bit, start to scissor your skis whilst throwing your arm that you wound up around and pop. Keep your HEAD UP, it will help let your spin continue. Thats what i do at least and thats what works for me.

Try it off boxes so that way you can go a little slower and focus on getting the 450.... Also when you jump off, jump as hard as you can because it looks like you just don't have enough to time to completely spot your landing.

Ok thanks this seems like really good advice. I will try that next time I go. I have had a problem with looking at the landing to early a lot recently

yeah if you pause your video on the first attempt right when you come off the rail notice your head is slanted downward a bit and not straight up and down and looking over your shoulder for the landing, this could be the issue. Just takes a little video review and practice even i probably do that sometimes.

The way I learned was to set your feet for 270, but kind of turn your upper body and head way more. I think this helps instead of trying to pedal too much, which might cause the backseat landing.

Do not do it on boxes, that is the worst advice in this thread. Just keep working on rails and lean forward on the spin out.

If you pause at like :02 you are spotting over your left shoulder like on a front 2 for a split second. Look for the start of the rail right away instead and then just keep turning. I'll be at troll Saturday if you want some help

Try getting as much air possible out. The more time you have in the air, The easier it is to do what u gotta do.

Learn blind 4 first, I know it may be harder. But it helps you develop the set, instead of being able to just set your edge in the front 4 and whip it around. But good job.

Ya im sticking to the same rail. I don't think the rail is the problem

This looks like good advice that I will try. I am not sure if I am going Saturday but I will let you know if I am. Thanks

It looks to me that you really just have to wind up and spin harder. Act like your throwing a 9 off a jump and look over your lead shoulder the whole time. It seems like more an underotation problem to me, your kinda just gripping the rail and hoping for the best.
