I can't imagine how these people must have felt

+Karma for a good post.

I really don't know much about the whole Elian Gonzalez affair at all, but I just remember this photo being one that was everywhere when I was younger, one of the very few photos that has stayed in my head pretty vividly throughout the years.

Or maybe you just don't live in a bubble and actually are aware that shit happens in the world outside of your town or city.

To the 9/11 one I saw that in person I also saw and heard the people jump. It made a sound like dropping a bag of sand off a roof.

Dude this hasnt been confirmed but I heard that those photos of the vietnam guy getting executed are always misinterpreted in the media. That guy had raped and killed multiple innocent women and children, and they decided to kill him on the street, however got a photo and people assumed he was a civilian. Anyone else here this?

holy fuck. I cant even imagine. After being there in person, how do you feel around the theories?Bomb or plains?

I live in nyc and saw that shit too, my friends dad works in an office right next to the world trade center and we were downtown when it happened, he saw everything. Obviously the planes took it down. The theories are stupid as fuck and they have been disproven over and over again.

To the bomb or plane question it was a plane but what always will be weird to me is a 3rd building did fall that day and no one out side of ny know about it also there were pipe bombs found under the bridge and 4 white people were arrested. Those 2 things were kept out of the news.

this thread makes me proud to be a fucking american.

he did kill himself

heres the death note

"I am depressed ... without phone ... money for rent ... money for child support ... money for debts ... money!!! ... I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain ... of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners ... I have gone to join Ken, if I am that lucky"

ken was his colleague, and they were both a part of "the bang bang club"

there is one picture with like a 5 year old in a uniform saluting his dads grave or something. +k for someone who posts it

fake

those pictures were amazing though, can't believe the shit some people live through/have seen.

if you get a chance go check the movie "bang bang club"about the people in the group mainly working in sth africa.
I grew up between malawi and sth africa until i was 15 remember how sketch it was in j burg with all the racial shit.
anyway watch the movie, it is sick.

this one is fake, it got a lot of buzz and turned out to just be some 2 guys posing for like a realy well known photographer. plus who just randomly takes what is probably a 1500 $ camera to a canadian riot?

He was part of the "bang bang club". Some of there pictures are pretty gruesome. Like of people being hacked to death and being burned alive. There's a movie about them which is pretty good too. And in terms of Kev Carter, i can almost understand why he committed suicide. I searched his images and they are gruesome. There were one's i actually looked away at because they were just too much. I couldn't imagine actually being there and seeing these things let alone having to take photos of them.

I lol'd at this: "Australian Scott Jones kisses his Canadian girlfriend Alex Thomas after she was knocked to the ground by a police officer's riot shield in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canadians rioted after the Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup to the Boston Bruins."

All the other pictures are powerful and about some serious shit and this one is about a fuckin hockey game. Only in Canada ahaha.

the picture of JFK's son saluting him after his assassination is the most powerful image in united states history IMO. Great Image

Word. I'm Canadian but my uncle was really into JFK so he's got a lot of books on him. When i was reading one of him and saw that picture i got chills.

FUCK THIS ONE.

Even if it was not fake this 100% does not belong here. All of these pictures stir emotions within me, some of them sad and some of them can not be explained. This photo does nothing except enrage me because i cant believe that people are so trivial that they start a riot over the loss of a sports game. Other pictures are depicting emotions during some of the worlds most trying times and this picture is not even in the same ballpark. Sorry for the rant and the girl has a a great booty.

i see. well i was just curious, i've never spoken to anyone who had experienced anything about the 9/11 attacks, so i just thought i should use this occasion to do so.

I also thought all the conspiracy theories were total crap, but some footage on youtube got me.. curious, that is all. Ill try to dig it up:

(will dig up)

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

this stuff.. That when they zoom in, it just comes out of nowhere, cause it was not visible before they zoomed... Catch my drift?

this video makes me smh. the kid who made this should put a toothipick under his toenail and punt a cinder block.

Not saying that photo's aren't powerful but there is nothing like actually being there. I mean I've been going to the 9/11 memorial almost every year since 2001 (for my dads best friend who was like a second father to me, he had gotten divorced and we were his family) and i'll never forget before there was a memorial, there was nothing as movingl as going down to the actual remains of the tower and tossing flowers into the base (which was always filled with water and had wood around it that people would write on) I mean it honestly made me cry EVERY TIME, even when I told myself " I'm not gonna cry".
