shoooot, i remember coming home from a half day in first grade and seeing this on the tv, so vivid

great thread, friend. I was in public so didn't tear up, but chills crawled down my spine almost every single time.

WW2 pictures are dramatic, really graphic, and the pictures says a lot about what happened at the time.

here are some that i had to stop and think about, more than the others, that is.

i was just about to post this, since i saw it on the news right now. In a few days it is 40 days since the picture was taken. Hence the news.

36 was the most emotional for me.

But this one represents something else, the lust and ferociousness for freedom in his eyes is something i've never seen before.

That was amazing. I bet the little boy in 36 was more of a man in that moment than most men will ever be. So sad, but really moving.

Also not on the list, but I love this photo, of an Afghan girl at a refugee camp. Her eyes are haunting. She looks like she's seen some shit.

the caption/ picture of number 11 is so terrible... i could never imagine seeing part of my family for only 3 days after 60 years and then not seeing them again..and the picture with the dog laying by his owners grave...i need to go hug my dog now :'(

i think that one is stupid as hell... not gonna lie.

i'm not harping on you because all of those were pretty chilling, but there is a thread dedicated to these kinds of things. might want to look it up

Well, I think by powerful they mean pictures that have a strong message attached. I don't see any particular message in those two, those are chocking, if anything, it represents how awful a human being can be. Just my opinion though, I still see how you can see those pictures as powerful, but not powerful in the same way as the others are, don't know if I'm making any sense..

I understand completely what you mean but i still believe that picture is more powerful than a lot of the pictures that made that list. there were a lot of pictures that i looked at, read the caption and just said to myself "...what?"

Look into the pictures you don't see a little harder, you'll think of something. There' no single emotion which is portrayed to everyone, it's a different feeling for each individual.

You just made me realize. I have no emotions.

Did the one of the stanley cup riot make wince? I don't know the story behind it but, giving that riot more attention outrageous in my opinion
