On my my mountain there are a ton of little kids skiing now, like three or four years old. Everyone I chill with didnt start till they were at least aroung 10. Does "skiing" at the age of four really make yyou better in the long run? It seems kinda pointless to me considering all the brats do are stand and cry when they fall.

true enough. my sister and i didnt start till we were 11 but are little bro start when he was 6, but its fucking expensive to buy new skis all the time cause you keep growing.

yeah i started skiing when i was 3, too. if your family loves skiing, why leave the little kids home? drop them off at a lesson for the day, then when they get good enough, take them with you to the rest of the mountain.

that's why you rent or go to shops who have old gear for cheap or have free ones or do swaps.

i think i started when i was 7 or something. but i stopped after a few years and started back up again. i don't know if it makes a huge impact on how young you start, it's whether you end up wanting to continue. either way. it's nice to do something with your kids or to have your kids active starting at a young age. i don't think i'd personally start my kid til about 5 or something. 3 seems so young.

hm.. tough question. i have always loved skiing even as an toddler on the magic carpet.. and i have some great memories from my years of ski school (2-10). so having the advantage of being a "double black" skier by the time i was 10 id say it was worth it to me..

My mom skied chest deep pow with me in her stomach and later my dad would bring me out in his backpack at snowbird. I skied as soon as i could walk pretty much and I'd say it payed off.. i could ski most shit at snowbird and alta by the time i was like 8.

And whoever said it was expensive I didnt own skis until i was about 7 and even then they were hand-i-downs.

Started right before my third birthday... SKIING IS NOW MY LIFE AND I WILL ONLY LIVE IN DOPE ASS MOUNTAINS WITH AMAZING SNOW NOW CAUSE OF IT... totally worth it

When i was little and lived in whistler i hated it... then when i was 12 living in vancouver i finally started to actually ski. I've always wondered how good i would be if i had actually don it when i was younger

i started to ski when i was like 4.. and i hated it so much. my dad would drag me to the hill and i would cry in the car casue i hated it .
but now i like it, lots

I started when I was 1 1/2 haha. It was only a little hill in the backyard but it's the only thing I remember from back then. Also my first word was ski hahaha. I went to the mountain when I was like 2 1/2. I never wanted to leave.

skiing started literally a week after I started walking. My dad apparently was watching a ski movie and I kept pointing at it. so he bought baby skis/

i started when i was 3 and have been addicted ever since. for me its made me live a life where im more comfortable on skis than i am on the street, and im not claiming to be an amazing skiing. but i am claiming the fact that it gave me a stronger love for the sport.

2 years old, im an instructor during the winter and I teach a decent amount of lessons with kids 3-6 years old lots of little kids ripping lines

yeah i started around three or four. it was nice. i feel its part of the reason why i feel so comfortable on snow, that is ive been doing this shit most of my life

i was out there when i was 1 and 1/2! i remember when i was 3 i rented some rad skis with a ninja turtle graphic on them and i was overly sad to give them back at the end of the day.

i started skiing when i was three, never took a lesson since i cried when my parents left me haha.
but it worked out pretty good i would say i was one of the best skiers on the mountain. actual skiing not park.
/claim

at breck there is this 4 year old border who shreds, also his brother who is like 8 throws better stuff of the first 3 then my friends.... there 15

I started skiing regularly when I was about 2 or 2 and a half. I think an early start definitely proves to have an advantage. I hear that young kids are actually more adaptive than most adults, and learn much quicker. More than anything though, skiing at that age just really made the sport a part of my childhood, and a part of my life.

during the winter im a ski instructor. This year i had a 4 year old in one of my classes who was the collest little shredder i have ever seen. He wore jackets that were way too big for him and refused to ever zip up his coat, even when it was snowing extremely hard. He saw me skiing backward and then copied me, and actually was really good at it. He also kept trying to butter up onto his tips and kept falling on his face. Anyway this kid was freaking amazing.

Tom Wallisch started after high school, I don't really think it helps that much. I've been skiing since I was five and there is a guy I skied with who apparently has only been skiing a couple years (2-3) and he is way better than I am.

I started when I was 3, I think that's where natural looking and coordination, but then again there are some kids who start late and are still really good

I started when I was about 3/4

Considering I'm English if I started when I was 10 I'd be terrible because we only get away approx 1 week a year

I didn't start before I was almost twelve and I definitely wish I had started earlier. I also work as a ski insstructor at my local mountain and this year I had one class with 15 3 and 4 year olds. They all learned to ski very well.

Ah, we only got away about once a week, and I've only recently started going to the dry slope regularly, because I never realised that it's better than not skiing.

If I started when I was 10 I would only have had about 8 weeks of skiing.
