Im watching this special on national geographic about drugs and these mexicans are giving their children who are like 3-4 years old entire buttons of peyote. I'm not anti-drug or anything but I think thats pretty fucked up making a little kid trip. Little kids are kinda tripping all the time anyway.

No, it's not fucked up at all. Peyote is not a drug to these people. They don't do it to get high its a religous ritual. Some of them consider peyote a god. It's deeply religous and as important as the bibble to christianity. 4 is fucking young but I don't think you know enough to judge.

 
C-lo is correct, many different tribes/cultures use peyote for religious purpose.

its probably better they're doing as a religous act, that way they dont sneak off with their friends to get high, they go to church to get high.

 
Yeah I understand is sacred and its ritual but that doesnt mean it's not fucking up their brain permantly its not like they have understanding for what they are doing at 4. I mean it's abuse in some respects

no way..... I was just reading an older national geographic artical on this.... Vol 177 , No.5 May 1990. Born addicted to cocaine but now fully withdrawn, a four year old screams, perhaps for attention, while his uncle sells heroin over the phone. Since tyhe boys parents both deal and use drugs, he and his sister are being raised by theiur material grandmother. Two other siblings, including a girl born with only one hand - possibly due to her mothers crack habit-live with another grandmother. This is a caption under a picture of a kid laying down screaming, with his uncle on the phone in the background. crazy.

my parent still say the best dinner my family ever had was when the waiter brought me a Mai-Tai and I chugged it and passed out (4 years old I think) and I have a picture of me 3 years old drinking a beer.

I gotta agree though, if it religious, then who am I to judge, but if its not its messed up. Little kids don't know better, and its one thing to choose to do drugs, but a 4 year old has no clue. What pisses me off is seeing the pictures from Mexico, Southwestern US, and foriegn countries where you see kids as young as 2 huffing paint to kill hunger pains.

 
One time our family was in Martha's Vineyard during the summer and my parents were having drinks with friends and gave my sister and I some, so my entire family was intoxicated and my mom decides to let my sister who was 14 at the time take me for a little joy ride, we dented up the car and didn't even get in trouble. Good times.

peyote is illegal in mexico. tribes used it as religious purposes, but that was way back in the days of cowboays and indians. marijuana and peyote used to grow freely across the USA and Mexico. Then the Cia burned it all got coke from columbia and got everyone fucked on hard drugs. now they only sell it to 3rd world countries to keep em fucked up.

I think religion is a pretty sad excuse for harming a child. If it was religion go stone innocent children to death would you be as accepting of this as you are of drugging your kids? What if it was religion to rape a girl on her 11th birthday. Would you accept that?

Hatians (sp?) use religion as an excuse to practise Voodoo and poison people into a state of living dead (zombies). SOME Muslims use religion as an excuse to stone women to death for getting pregnant before marriage, even if she was raped. Do you accept these as easily as you accept giving a 4 year old a harmful drug?

I have to agree it is wrong to give a child a drug at 4 years old because honestly, their understandment of the world and psyical development is far less than of an older person. Hence, it could cause mental and phyical trama for the future.

But I see no reason why the older generation of the tribe should not do it. Unlike the views of north americans, these people see the drug as an opening towards a spirital encounter. They are not tripping out, laughing or eating munchies.

They are getting closer to understanding who they are and what their purpose of life is. They enter their own mind.

I honestly don't think it would hurt us to use drugs as a gateway to our mind instead of just frying it for fun.

It may be a religious thing, but just because it has an escuse doesnt mean its not bad. This is more of an exception, it really is something, not just an escuse, but lets say...Crusades. Church says kill thousands of people to hold a place they hadnt cared about in hundreds of years. All the christian soldiers got killed in the occupancy anyway, they had to give it up. Senseless killing is what Im talking about.

My little sister's in 5th grade (I think) and some kid at her elementary school (that I went to years ago) got busted for dealing shrooms. He was in fourth grade.
