360 coming off axis

How come half the time I can land a 3 with no real issues, but the other half the time I come off axis bent about 20 degrees to the right and land on my hip. Not popping straight up? It seems to be day to day. Some days I'm fine most of the time and others I just keep landing on my hip. Any secrets on how I can totally cage it with no more issues. My lack of consistency is starting to bug me.

Your getting lazy on the days where you can't get it. You need to really think about popping straight and you'll get it.

Its all mental.

Woah, thats werid, 'cause I'm having the same kinda problem. Sometimes I'll stomp my 3's no problem, other times I'll land tilted a bit to the right, and end up washing out. How big are the jumps that you're hitting?

when you wind up for the spin and release, make sure your shoulders are square. If you're coming off axis, your dropping a shoulder.

make sure your leading shoulder is straight and you should be cool. just keep thinking about that when you pop off the lip and you should have it homie.

I usually go a bit off axis when I spin left, but not when I spin right. Also my left spins are sort of smooth while the right side ones are just hucked.most of teh time I can land, but sometimes no.

i blame it on winding up for the spin all together....i dont wind up unless im goin for a larger corked spin like a 7....but i def feel like when you wind up for a spin half of the time you just throw yourself off axis....i dont wind up at all on 3s...i have actually been known to spin a couple of 3s with my hands in my pockets

I used to have the exact same issue. I found that i was setting my spin too early on the lip so just focus on getting a good pop then initiate your spin in the air.

The jump is about six feet. So the secret is focus on the pop straight up and delay the spin a bit? On the bad days I find I usually do the first two or three fine, then it goes to hell. Some days no problems at all. How did you stop spinning off the lip? Just worry more about the pop?

6 feet that's pretty damn big, you're probably trying to huck it too hard. Try and slow your rotation and float it out, I'm sure you'll have ample air time.

Its always your takeoff... like 90% of the time if you're going off axis or landing fucked up its because of an improper takeoff/weak pop.

^ But I find if I pop too hard, I will throw myself off

I'm assuming you're tryning it on the same jump right?

sheeet bro i was gonna post the exact same thing in like a minute. For some reason i randomy started unwantedly corking my 5s and 7s and landing on my hip just like you said. It pisses me off so much.

If the jump is too steep will that throw me off? Is it easier with a more mellow angle on the jump? The angle on the jump is pretty steep and it actually causes nerves. I'm thinking a more mellow angle and bit shorter jump will make working on popping a bit easier. It just seems I'm tweeked way to the right through most of the jump. Fucking sucks.

I find myself coming off-axis on my spins later in the day when I'm getting tired. You lose focus and don't concentrate on your pop. Good time to take a break, down some sort of caffeine, take off your boots for a bit, all that good stuff.
