30 reasons why lake tahoe

Sounds good to me! I flew over Switzerland last month and the mountains looked so epic! Maybe i should come atleast to visit there next year or something. How much do houses/rent cost over there and do people speak english over there?

And i think we need more lists like this from different resorts, so keep them coming

I'm Norwegian and might be moving to Lake Tahoe next year when I'm turning 15. I've got som relatives that lives in Truckee. If it happens, I think I'm gonna end skiing Squaw Valley..

Uhm rent is around $250-$500 / month up in the mountains and more like $500-$800 in the city.

Everyone speaks English.

everyone that i have talked to that has lived in tahoe has NEVER EVER told me that sierra cement is an issue or even true. interesting because everyone that visits there and just skis there for a trip says its cement. I will have to side with those who have lived there and i have heard nothing but positive. I lived in summit county,co this past year and i am thinkin about Tahoe cuz i am sick of 6 inch snowstorms and those of you who live in summit kno exactly what i am talking about...but then again im from the east originally so i would still be satisfied with summit county again.

i stayed at squaw 2 years ago it was by far my favorite place..so much fun and sunny all day..alpine meadows is really good too

I personally like the Sierra snow. It gets light from time to time, but the wet stuff is better for coating rocks. Wet snow makes the steep terrain more skiable. It makes for a better base.

2 hours to Mammoth? I think that is pushing it a bit.

JET SKIING IS ALLOWED IN LAKE TAHOE, THE ONLY RULE AGAINST IT IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A NEW JET SKI, BECAUSE THE OLD ONES WERE ENVIRONMENTALLY CLEAN FOR TAHOE.

2 stroke engines are whats not aloud on it... so yeah the old ones.. also that means you can get fined for snowmobiling on it, and yes its happened.

Actually 2 strokes are allowed but they have to meet the new standards. The older type 2 strokes are baned. But nearly all new(2007 or newer) two stroke engines are direct fuel injected, and are allowed. They are as clean, if not cleaner then a 4 stroke. The old style 2 stokes cant even be purchased here any more, same with bikes too.

yeah im from southern ny and last winter was my first skiin summit county- i was satisfied overall but i was a little disappointed with the lack of huge dumps, just frequently getting 6 inches

alright, so Tahoe is cool for reasons like squaw, heavenly, alpine and whatever else. We also have Jaliscos, crazy parties, and yes, the lake. But in no way is the BC here great. Shame on the mags and whoever advertises tahoe BC.

I've lived in California my whole life and have had more than a lions share of mexican food especially food that wasnt bought from a restaurant but rather made in kitchens. TACOS JALISCOS ISNT THAT SPECIAL. Their red sauce has waaaay too much sugar. T's is better just cuz the rotisierre meat but I've still had better. That's my opinion. Northstar and Squaw don't belong next to eachother for top reasons. more like SquawAlpineKirkwood or somehwere along those lines. Northstar strictly for park, Boreal strictly for park and prices and can always find some sort of discount and a long night season.

its gonna be about the same as whistler cuz they both sit so damn close to the ocean. and its heavier than co snow without a doubt. the stuff i ski at steamboat is the lightest shit ive ever skied. Lighter than Utah (granted it was spring there so prolly wetter snow). and about the same as montana. not saying it isnt sick as hell, but it aint light compared to most resorts

Im either moving to Tahoe or Breck this month. Super last minute for not knowing where you're going, but regardless i'm excited
