im doing this thread for all the people who want to move and arent sure where they want to go yet, and im not saying they have to go here, thye could go anywhere else, im just giving them a reason for tahoe,

feel free to add to this list

1. Super Good snow

2. squaw valley

3. northstar

5. mt rose chutes= awesome pow lines

6. alpine meadows

8. heavenly

10. all the other mountains in lake which include like teno others

11. 2 hour drive to mammoth

14. truckee bagel company= most bomb breakfast bagels you'll ever have

15. Lake tahoe is pretty much the most beautiful place in the world

17. SOOO many urbans

18. some of the lightest powder around at some places like MT. rose and alpine

19. casinos for you gamblers

20. Clayton middle school is the best place around i have to day for urbans

21. super sick companys around(bobos mogul mouse)

22. reno lets skiers jump off of buildings....

23. so many good places to build road gaps

24. so much fun during summer

25. boating at lake tahoe is super fun

26. some sick places other than tahoe for wakeboarding, like lahontan

27. truckee = chill and relaxed town

30. Reno is the biggest little city in the world

 
yeah youre right, except for not really because i have been to colorado and whistler on powder days, and on powder days at mt. rose, i have to say that it definetly gets better pow than co and pretty much just as good of pow as whistler
 
Haha, don't even try to claim super light snow. Does Tahoe routinely get 2-3%? It's a cool place for sure, but you don't have to lie to convince people.

its three hours to mammoth northstar can blow my left nut annnnd im TOTALLY COMPLETELY fine if no one wants to move here, there are already to many bay-areans with second homes, sooo just stay away, utah and col totally have better snow, its sick move there.

 
Haha colorado and whistler don't have light snow. Got to Montana or Utah you'll find light snow there.
 
When it gets really cold and starts snowing a lot, tahoe snow is not sierra cement but comparable to Utah. I know what this kid is talking about, its occasional, we get that kinda snow once every few years it's rare, like last year we rarely got a lot of snow.
 
Tahoe may not have the lightest snow... but thats fine cuz people that are retarded and think its sierra cement can stay away.
Hmm how many storms has it bee over 10% water content this year. Ohh thats right NONE. Yeah sierra cement is rare and thats when its in the 20% water range.
Oh and the few % more water content our snow has keeps our resorts open through memorial day, and the patch bumpin through july.
When does most of utah close? hmm like third or second sunday in April?
God im sick of having to explain this, ha oh well. But hey im not arguing Utah doesnt have lighter snow, cuz they do usually. Just saying its not like Sierra cement here.
So we forgot Cabellas.
Oh Reno was rated #2 for rails by Transworld.
And ill have to disagree with clayton dude. The rails there are ehh alright, and its like hit by a million people every storm.
Just say reno, cuz im not giving away all the good rails.
Put in parenthesis next to alpine (Best and Biggest jumps around).

Yeah gotta add that. I guess for some reason i dont see it too much in skiing films, but like Mack Dawg and Standard Film and prolly most skiing companys film like all there backcountry in Tahoe and Alaska, a little BC too.

Ya that is because the forest service makes most of them there is still More than enough snow to stay open and snowbird is open till at least may 30th every year
 
Tahoe doesnt seem like part of the Scene in skiing right now, but I love it here. theres so much to do and ski.

if so it would be the ideal place for me to live.

Sick skiing in the winter, jetskiing in the summer, all the reasons you stated, I bet it has gnar snowmobiling, and sick places to ride ATV's and dirtbikes. I'd have all my bases covered. If I could find a job there after college I'd take it in a second.
 
Porters is a bombass store!!! and there are soo many resorts in close proximity, but i dissagree with the best snow cause Utah is definately better snow and so is colorado.
 
i lived in tahoe for 7 years. SICK place! The skiing is phenom...the hanggliding during the summer is insane. We got to altitudes of 17,000' on a regular basis and could fly from mt rose to kings beach alot during the summer. I now live in PC utah...the snow is better BUT the season is so much shorter it is truly sad. And the sierra cement thing is laughable, it just isnt like that and in tahoe they talk about storms in terms of FEET BABY....not inches
 
They must call it Sierra cement because Tahoe is definitely not in the Sierra's and the snow there is not wet and heavy the majority of the time.

Good thing I haven't been skiing the Sierras my entire life and have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Not that one would need to.
 
ok since none of you guys agree with me about powder, then i cross it off and put moment skis in its place, and then move that up to #1...
 
Some of the reason aren't even important. It doesn't matter that a ski company is there, or T's, or any of the other things. Every place you go to has it's chill local shops, eateries, resorts, secret stashes, and things of that nature. When I went to Tahoe I thought it was sick though for sure.

For Utah I could say LCC, BCC, Rails galore in the valley from Ogden all the way to provo... (ones that aren't played either), Park City, Davanzas.
 
im guessing youve never been to ts.... and also porters tahoe and bobos are better than just local shops....bobos hosted warren miller show, where there was a big ass party and concert, there was show where like 10 skiers jumped off a ramp off a building, and they made this huge show inside the actual premier with a pro skier on a trampoline...

 
I've been accepted to Sierra Nevada College and am seriously consdiering it, so keep giving me more info on the area, its helpful.
 
dont jetski in lake tahoe!!  lord.. its so fucking beautifull... you wanna come to tahoe to snowmobile, jetski, dirtbike, and atv.. it seems like you dont give a shit about the environement you ski in!!

Anywho whoever said tahoe/truckee was not in the sierras is striaght dislexic.

But just FYI dude no 2 stroke engins (jet skis boats even snowblowers and such) are allowed in the tahoe baisn. Donner lake and all the other local lakes are a different story.
 
not to get all hung up on the pow, but have you ever had a day in tahoe where you could say the pow was actually nipple deep?

serious question, not being a dick. that pic isn't fully representative of how deep it was that day. but if you can get that deep in tahoe, i might need to reconsider, the entire town is one huge ski town, not just a little cluster.
 
Its been nipple deep before for sure, probably does not happen as it does in utah. Sometimes even if we get 5+ feet of snow you don't sink in that much, until you huck off a cliff or somthing. Its different but shit its fun.
 
i got there and that was the very first jump off that i saw... i thought he at least broke his back or something....but no, he only barely hurt his knee

^me 2 for sure, he tried dub backflip and his ski caught his parachute and he went crazily down and i thought he was going to hit the building a couple times
