30 hours of community service for a speeding ticket?

haha this may be true. theres a good chance that I'm going to either St. Anton or Innsbruck later next week. hopefully they get some solid gnar in the next week

i was joking about the "if you dont speed you should" thing. fuck. my whole point was that i know way more people that obey the speed limit and get in accidents than people who speed and get in accidents.

kinda like what somebody said earlier about skiing fast through gapers. ive never hit anyone, and ive never seen any park kid run into a gaper, but ive seen gapers who are going slow hit people or run into shit sooooo many times. same idea, they cant control themselves on skis like some people cant control a car.

or its because you dont have a good argument against it. statistics prove that countries without speed limits on some of their highways are safer than the U.S. and other countries that do have speed limits.

and just like a couple other people have pointed out, slow drivers tend to get distracted, pay less attention and cause more accidents than people who speed.

than bring on this statistic and were set, ok? i see german Tv most of the time, and it may surprise you, but i have seen 1 or 2 accidents in the evening news.

(In 2001, the death rate there was 27 percent lower (0.59 deaths per 100

million vehicle miles traveled versus 0.81 per million for the U.S.

interstates)

i tried finding a more "official" source, but thats all i could get, every other website i could find on the subject said pretty much the same thing.

i found another statistic saying that speeding is the cause of 12% of all accidents. guess what the other 88% is??

ok, but there are other things to consider when you compare germany and the US or so. size of cars, safety features, etc.
your US cars industry is just telling you to get the biggest car, not the safest.

and i bet you that in the 88% (icy/snowy conditions, aquaplaning, deer/elks, blablabla, a lot of them were to fast, but since another major thing could be made accountable for the accident, they took it.
without more information about what accidents were considered "caused by speeding" or if it was 100% sure that the other drivers werent speeding

well if you think about it, he could be working instead and be making min 8 an hour for 3 hours which would be $240 so even if he got charged $150 then he would have still made 90$

nah your point is wrong what your saying is that woman drivers suck which i completely agree with...woman are awful drivers for the most part and many of them i dont understand how they even pass there driving test.

yeah german cars are typically very safe, but the U.S. has pretty strict safety standards for their cars. thats why its so hard to import alot of cars from europe or asia.

and the icy/snowy conditions, hitting deer or elk, etc... can all be because of poor driving skills and not paying attention. where i live theres snow on the ground most of the winter, and almost every accident you see and ive seen alot, and ive seen probably 5 happen. is not because of somebody going fast. its almost always because somebody hit an ice patch, or the car started to slide slightly and they have no fucking clue how to control it.

the last accident i saw happen was about 2 months ago, it was snowy, and somebody was pulling out of a neighborhood onto a main street, going pretty damn slow, the car must have slid a little, though it was too small for me to notice, and the person freaked out, over corrected like 5 times making the slide bigger and bigger, and ran into a median and light pole. he was only going maybe 15 or 20, so it wasnt that bad. but its the typical accident you see in the snow. people pick up a little bit of understeer or oversteer and the have no clue what to do.

anyway my whole point was that people who dont know how to drive, and/or dont pay attention are much more dangerous than people who speed. and i have two statistics that prove it. plus common sense proves it too.

ok, thats fine, let this be our conclusion. BUT since the government would have a hard time to control if someone "pays attention", they will stick with punishing speeders for now. its not like the only dangerous thing, but the only one that is measurable and thus prosecutable.

.... wow i guess you cant read. it would be much better to pay a fine than to waste time that can be spent to make money....

true, but i still think cops should be more harsh on reckless driving, rather than speeding, you can go the speed limit and still drive reckless in heavy traffic conditions.

IMO they should really just make the driving test harder, it needs to be like a month of different driving and car control tests in different conditions. the test we have now is just plain pathetic, you can the worst driver ever and still get a liscense wtihout even trying. it wouldnt really prevent anyone from getting a liscense, you just would just have to be willing to take the time to learn.

and i also think they should just take your liscense for life if you drink and drive like in some european countries, it would just plain not happen here if that was the law.

between those two things they would save thousands and thousands of lives.

Haha, thats one way too look at it... Im just saying that alot of work, too much in my opinion. A fine would be better and he could have possibly done some work with that time.
