30 Hour Famine - Hunger Relief

Hello NS,

I am going to be participating in a movement called 30 Hour Famine. This is through an organization called World Vision. For 30 hours I will be going without food, while raising money for children in third world countries who are starving. My goal is 360 dollars, which will feed one child for a year.

Please find it in your hearts to make a donation for the children who are in need. Any dollar amount is welcomed. If you are unable to make the donation then that's ok, thank you for at least having in interest in the thread.

Well i do plan on donating some of my own money, but it would be counterproductive to do that since the money that i make from goes towards my own expenses.
 
I remember this from high school. It'd be a lot of fun because everyone would sleep over in the gym. My soccer coach was pissed because we all showed up at soccer practice pale and shakey and went on a huge rant about how it was detrimental to our health.

Even cooler was the year we changed it to feast or famine and one in 10 kids got a crazy amount of food and lorded it over the rest of us. I remember doing a bunch of random shit so I could get a donut.
 
actually fasting or only consuming stuff like smoothies for 24 hours can be extremely beneficial to athletic performance. it seems counterintuitive but often times your body welcomes a reboot. it's like taking the longest possible exhale you can - it hurts while you're doing it but afterwards you get to fill your body with as much fresh new air as possible

there's a whole section of sports psychology and training devoted to stuff like this. we have a guy come in and work with our team once a week on sport-specific recovery and stretching techniques and a lot of what he does involves dieting and breathing
