3 fights in opening face off

I love hockey way too much to not watch and play the game. I still think it's retarded when a fight breaks out.

also if you grew up playing hockey you'd know that if you go to the local rink for a game of shinny there is no tolerance for fighting
 
I don't think anyone is getting pissed; They just wished that they could actually watch the true sport instead of a 2 minute boxing match every half hour

people really don't like watching fights? they're so entertaining, i love when a good brawl goes down! i love everything about hockey, brawls included!
 
also anyone saying that hockey and fighting don't go together, they def. do. I played all throughout highschool and there were on average 2 fights a game
 
Well no fucking shit there isn't fights at a pick up game of shinny, don't even try and compare that to league play, let alone high level league play. The level of competition is the difference, you don't go to a local game of shinny and see anybody laying out huge hits either. Don't compare apples and oranges, it makes your argument look ridiculous
 
you were also hormonal highschoolers. these are grown and supposedly mature men in the highest level of the sport who are supposed to be role models for countless people. makes them look so gad damn immature when they start name calling and teasing then fighting each other over it. It's honestly worse than 10 year old.

did get you get picked on in highschool? bullied? any person that's normal understands the reason they fight. It's competitive and they actually care about winning, unlike many other professional sports. I played hockey too and have gotten into countless fights. go back to playing checkers and get back to me when you reach manhood
 
I think fighting in hockey actually allows the sport to be safer. Because of fighting, players are held far more accountable for their actions and can't just take cheap shots on other players. For example, in the stanley cup last year torres and burrows paid for their cheap shots by getting the shit kicked out of them. If it wasn't for that they may have continued to play cheap hockey and hurt more players. Anyways, I don't see fighting ever getting eliminated in the NHL, so this isn't really a debate worth having.
 
My only problem with this was that they did all three fights at the same time, you couldn't actually enjoy each one because you didn't know who to watch, if you're gonna do opening fights, this is how it's done, not to mention Jack Edwards just cracks me up

Of course it's competitive. It's no more competitive than any other sport and no other sport cares less about winning. That is seriously one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen written.

This argument is fucking hilarious. I neither play, nor watch hockey, but if all you internet tough guys think fighting is cool, why not just watch MMA instead? Those guys are raw as fuck, bros! None of this hockey, pussy bull shit where you're wearing fucking pads and half the time don't even land a hit. Calling someone a pussy for enjoying hockey for the actual game, and not the fighting, is ridiculous.
 
i'm so fucking sick of hearing, "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out." that shit is sooo fucking old. i can't even begin to tell you how many times I've heard that joke in the past 20 years i've been playing/watching.
 
cause thats a game of shinny dilweed not a competitive game that means something.

when you actually care, your emotions run high, and anger is a pretty strong emotion. its always been part of the game, just accept it.
 
You do not fully know what you are talking about. Hockey fights are not always spectacular, but the gloves are always dropped, and the helmets are off more often than not. Often the guys skate away from a fight with a bloody nose or a fat fucking lip.

I think it's pointless to argue about "role modeling" because fighting has always been a part of the hockey game culture. That said, all of my friends and I watch hockey to see players try and score goals more than anything else, but none of my friends, nor I, are ever, ever disappointed when the cameras turn to two guys that have decided to duke it out with their fists. Everyone I've ever known has said, "I fucking love hockey fights!" How many of you have actually been to an NHL game before? When a fight occurs, the atmosphere is epic, and it's a damn good time. Three pairs of players droppin' gloves before an opening face-off is very rare, and something to be savored.
