3-19th of august. What to do in the states. Anywhere between Bozeman and NYC.

So,

I'll be going to MSU in the fall semester and for international students, the semester starts the 19th of august. I'm going to my cousins wedding in NYC and have nothing to do between the 3rd of august and the first day of school.

What should I do? I'm on a slightly limited budget, so keep that in mind. Don't suggest I fly out west and go ski on some glaciers, because that's not an option.

Would like to do something outdoors: hiking, climbing etc. I really want to get into bouldering and the sorts. Basically anything outdoors.

Also, if anyone wants to meet up for some crazy adventure, hit me up. I've backpacked all around the world (Extensively through south-America and Asia as well as Africa and of course I've seen the whole of Europe) and am for a good time and crazy stuff. I really don't have ANY plans and everything is fine, as long as I'm in Montana at the 19th.

Also, if anyone wants to do something crazy but needs a buddy, I'm probably down for it. Basically, I don't give a fuck as long as I have something to do.

If you like the outdoors you should try to take a trip out to the beach. NYC is close to some really nice beaches along long island and the jersey shore. Maybe you should try out surfing or something if you have never done it before. I know there are buses that can take you down to Long Beach Island, NJ (where i am all summer) from nyc (where i live) and there are some cheap ass fucking hotels down here that are legit 150 feet from the water.

find and fuck as many american sluts as you can find, you will be surprised what a girl without armpit hair and a mustache can do.

Aaaaight. Surfing sounds good. How are the waves there? I was really bummed out I couldn't go surfing this summer, but I might be able to after all. Good stuff.

Any more suggestions?

on average waves are around 1.5 to 3 feet here, but during a west wind and certain storms, especially in august during hurricane season, It can get up to 10+ feet double overhead conditions.

ohio has some surprisingly cool stuff. Hiking with caves and ledges and such, lots of quarry parks for cliff jumping, and some nice rivers for canoeing and kayaking. And we have some cool cities and festivals always happening in summer. Plus up north we have lake erie and such. And a ton of nsers live down here in columbus. And if you need a place to stay I literally have like 5 extra couches.

for example heres a picture from hiking last weekend

Hit Yellowstone! Tons of hikes and it's a beautiful NP. I'd tell you to come to the west coast but that's too far out of your way. NS is majority east of the Mississippi so they'll be able to give you some good tips for the Northeast. Wish I could help more but enjoy MSU!

That's a plan as well.

When I'm in Bozeman it's literally around the corner. And it wouldn't hurt making some friends there as well. I would love to go on a camping trip for a couple days.

Get to Bozeman a bit before the semester starts and get to know the place! August is an awesome time in and around town, and a real good time to get to know it all cause it's always sunny.

When I first moved here I rode my bike around everywhere to get a feel of the place--lots of different areas of town to explore, depending on where you're living, and it's always nice to know your surroundings.

You could come to South Dakota and chill at the Sturgis Motercycle rally, it's pretty fun. There are tons of concerts throughout the week, and you can easily pick up drunk chicks haha. If your underage it's extremely easy to get alcohol. There are tons of campgrounds so all you would need is a tent. Also during the day there is great hiking and biking. There are also some lakes right in that area that are pretty fun.

Will do.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm not really looking into picking up drunk sloots. I'm 21 already and have done enough of that in the past.

Maybe I'll just move out to bozeman early on and get to know the place hike and camp a lot in yellowstone. Are you allowed to just camp in the park?

I would skip over the middle part of the US and go directly to Bozeman. There are cool places in Ohio, Wisconsin, etc. but the central US is extremely flat and there are cooler areas to visit around Bozeman. Definitely check out Yellowstone, If I were you I would go into the park through the North East Entrance via Cooke City and Beartooth pass rather than through the West Entrance (the normal way to access Yellowstone from Bozeman). Grand Teton Nat. Park and Jackson Hole are around an hour beyond Yellowstone and are worth the drive. You can only camp in designated camping areas inside National Parks and on Forest Service land, it usually costs around $15 a night, but you can commando camp on BLM land for free. I'm going to MSU next year (my second year, I'll be a sophomore) and I live in the area (Idaho Falls). PM me if you want more recommendations or have any questions, and if I'm in the area in August I'd be happy to show you some climbing and rafting spots.

don't go to yellowstone in the summer. there are way too many fucking people its ridiculous. people see a buffalo and just stop on the road causing traffic to backup for miles. it's a zoo.

i'd wait till after school starts like late september/october and you'll have the park to yourself pretty much.

glacier national park in montana is a less popular, but still very nice park and is a better option for the summer.

Hit up the...

that first weekend in august there is the national water ski competition in janesville wisconsin, i.e. thousands of water ski chicks in bikinis. guaranteed good time.
