Are you talking about the flat box I think you are talking about?

spread ur legs during the spin so u dont land on hte rail still in hte huck position nad also try and spin it as smooth as possible try almsot spinning off the jump at first so u can watch hte rail under ur boots then whip around so u dont slide it blind

Ah nevermind. I thought maybe it was at Cranmore. Or was it... well it was a metal topsheet on a flat box at either one of those places and stuck like shit.

The trick for me is speed and lining up right, i just try to line up as straight as i can with the rail inbetween my legs. Spin and spot the rail at 180 and land on the rail with a normal semi wide grinding stance and youz got it

yeah, dont bother lining up to the side, just go straight forward, and set your spin really easily, if you huck it too hard, you will land in a spinning position, not a grinding one. a 270 isnt that much of a rotation, you need a lot less momentum than you would think. just be relaxed and do it like you have done it a million times before.

if i said it, it must be the truth!

yea just practice, dont huck too hard

actually when i first tried them i figured i should think of it as a 180, plus the 90. i found it was better for me to think of it more as a 360 minus 90...if that makes any sense.

anway, come in pretty fast, and just set a nice spin on and spot your landing on the rail asap. and just practice it a bunch of times

I look down and look att he box the whole time, thats the only difference from when I do jump spins, I'm not looking over my shoulder.

well, i have to go a little on the right side of the kicker to land on the middle cuz when i spin 270s on i go a little to the left...

I used to do that too.

Just don't spin too early.

Wait till you pop.

That's what I learned.

Turn your shoulders slightly to the way you're going to spin to force yourself to spin it a bit quicker.

I just learned them this weekend, try to line up perfect with the box and if you are sliding to the side, jump a little in the other direction...

I can sympathize with what ECfreeski said- I think 180, plus 90 when I do it. When I first learned on boxes I'd spin too hard, and that overrotation would basically just bounce me right off the box, which I think is what you're talking about. Try coming in straight on and setting your spin slower... the first time I stomped it I was so surprised how locked on I was when I spun slower.

wow that spinning too hard thing is exactly what i do...thanks

I'm pretty sure you're moving over to the side because you are carving/sliding into your spin. Make sure you've left the ground before you start spinning on, and you won't move to the side in the air.

try not to carve into the spin, but if u do it naturally, then approach to the left of the box a bit(if ur spinning right) and that should straighten u out

Switch 270's are eaiser for me on rails cuz you can stop your momentum from the spin easier...its also all about lining up right too

I didnt read the other ones because im tired, but here is the comprehensive guide to 270 ons

Comprehensive guide

Do not line up on an angle, it might center you on a short box but anything longer and your fucked.

come into the rail super forward, set a big lofty 180.

the reason you are landing on the sides is because your setting the rotation early and rotating off the lip, be patient

Unlike jumping, spot down between your legs at 180 so you know when to drop your skis that extra 90. Then keep your arms at your sides and ride out sickly.

So, why are you only setting a 180? setting a 180 then dropping your feet doesnt make you carry all the momentum setting a 270 would. Thats why kids always over rotate and go ass over balls. Try it on the ground at home or something, do a 180 but put your feet down a 270, then you will be like ohh shit i see now thanks for the hot tip.
