for some reason i have trouble doing 270s off. it just feels like i cant really spin, i get as far as about a 210 degree spin if i really force it. any pointers?

Do it on a rail, Rather than a box. They are way easier. Just take an hour from a day, and keep hitting and hiking a rail. You will get it. It's all about perseverance. If you can't slide rails yet, then you have a great chance to learn how. Once you feel balanced enough on the rail like it's nothing. then give her a go. Don't try blindside first, they are wayyy harder too. Go out and Give'er. You'll get it.

^yep

and opposite for frontside or downhill

frontside- leading toes up and following toes down

blindside- leading toes down and following toes up

well i think the problem might be i was trying on a box thinking it would be easier. so you're saying if i slide right foot first i should push off my right toes and left heel? or vice versa?

start with down hill 270's they are much easier, even if its your unnatural way of spinning. I do it by gripping the rail with my leading toe, and following heel.

don't think too much about what your doing with your feet, all that toes up toes down shit happens naturally and thinking about it too much will just confuse you

when i was first lerning 270s off, i found trying to drop my toes down or up way to difficult, so i just tryed winding up a tiny bit with one arm, and right at the end of the rail i spin my arm around, but this wass for front side 270s. when i first started learning backside 270s i tryed them on a box (a really short one), and i would get on and have my body turn slowly (by the time i was at the end of the box i was looking at the beginning of the box) but my skis still stay sideways and i would just pop off and my skis would turn around. This method worked just to get the fealing of 270ing off blind side. but once you do it on a rail, just i find try to turn your body around and your skis will follow. I hope that helps.

The simplest way of telling you how to do it is look to the end if the rail and when you get there just turn your shoulders. You dont need to jump. Just turn your shoulders in the direction you want to spin and your body will follow.

fuck, is it really that complicated. I was going to try some 20's off next time i go skiing and i was just planning on spinning off like i would wehn i land fakie, just with the extra twist. Would this still work or do i need to all that toeside, heelside gripping stuff?

no it really isnt that complicated. the gripping comes naturally, so dont think about it. its as simple as turning you body at the end of the rail

basically how i learned was to do what was said earlier and take an hour and hit a rail. i tend to focus more on the 270 because to me i seem to not worry about hittin the rail just locking on. use ur upper body and ur skis will follow. try to bring ur knees up. like for right foot forward start to lift ur front ski up when ur gunna start ur spin then push off with ur back leg. i dunno if that helps or sounds right but thats what i learned and how i do it.

my first 270 just ended up happeneing/ i had wanted to do one all day and went into a flat bar rail just trying to get it clean. i ended up making it to the end and just went for it. idk maybe dont think about it as much. thats what i did

The rail thing is good advice. If you're spinning blind, it helps to get some momentum at the start of the rail. I throw a little harder when I hope on the rail so I don't have to throw as hard off the end. Course that only works on short to medium length rails...

i started skiing last year and i could do 270's off in my first hour of trying rails

but..

this year i just cant do it

i either hit my tips on the rail/box

or

fall backseat too much and fall

any tips?

committing 100% is real important. the same thing happened to me but with 450 on, i would get like a 400 and go off to the side. you have to commit 100% and visualize it before you hit it. it helps a bunch.

the way i do ti is just pop a little bit and try to think about it like just doing a normal spin and not to think that you are on a rail that was my biggest mental block...soon you'll get one down and then it will be really easy for you

wake up, chug 3 PBR tallboys. eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwitch. then go to a rail and 270 out. easy

I just did my first 270 off yesterday. I got second try. It was on an up box, i think that probably made it easier because i had more time once i came off the box to get the skis around

ya i really wanna learn how to 270 on or off a rail. should i get comfortable first at just sliding then try it or try it on a box first or what ?

I learned switch ups and 270 0ffs on a box but rails seem easier. when I slide my unnatural way on a rail and try a 270 off it seems easier.

i finally got it, and flatbars are easier than boxes. what i did was i went slow enough to give myself enough time, i pointed my right toe down and left toe up, and i whipped my arm and head around and kinda pushed off and i got it. it also helps to have a higher rail.

i just recently started doing 270s out. i just try to look at the beginning of the rail, the whole your body moves with your head thing.

dont think about getting hurt if you fall

its not that hard to spin off of rails

just think if you fall how bad are you going to hurt yourself

its not like your going to break something if you fall a couple feet, its not like a jump where you could land on your head

dont think, just do.
