They are the biggest boot brand in the USA so far this season. Salomon are making a lot of money selling products to the average skier.

Unrelated but what’s actually going on with the Dispatch series? I was really interested in the 101 and 110, looks discontinued after a single season.

Your right wintersport was the wrong word for it.

i mean the more specific Freeride and Park Scene… When i think about theres also a lot Rentals that only have Salomons as Rental boots or as the more common Rental boots around Europe.

That's an early version of the upper cuff system, its updated a bit since these were made. It will hit the market the season of 2025/26. Its really awesome!! If you watch the FWT you may get some sneaks of some of our riders using it.

if it works for them it'll work for me and everyone else on NS. Upper cuff would be super cool imo

Calling out the whole group with this one...Y'all are losing your touch on your detective skills in your old age. I've seen a few pros around the industry posting gems and to my surprise they've not ended up here.

It's been the one and only negative side effect to deleting all social media.

do you know how it pulls around weird calfs?

Depends how weird I guess :) but it does an amazing job at producing an even and consistent pressure on the front of the cuff. I’m the person who needed to undo all the buckles when I got to every lift and with the boa cuff I was finding I could keep it what I would consider really tight for a long time without needing to wind back the tension. It’s pretty interesting. A lot of performance but it is a little slower to use for sure so if you prioritize performance boa will be what you go for, if you just want to do up the boot fast and have convenience you will probably still prefer buckles.

There were an insane amount of snapped dispatches. Never seen so many snapped skis in my life under regular skiiers. 99 percent sure thats why its gone. Everyone I knew that used them loved them but it was crazy how many ive seen folded in half.

Got to check out a bunch of the new atomic skis recently and they are quite nice. New 120 and maverick 115 are both skis im itching to try. New 120 is surprisingly stiff and thick underfoot with a shape that looks better for soft snow, the maverick seems like its gonna rip. Should be trying them within the next couple months hopefully...

Salomon doesnt really exist in the freeride and park scene anymore which is kinda sad, growing up Salomon was the coolest shit id kill for some 1080 foils just for the nostalgia. If im not mistaken Salomon sells the most boots of any brand in north america but atomic does the highest dollar value in sales because they sell more high end boots.

the bent chetler line is the same shape but with the a ecofriendly construction that is reportedly very similar skiing wise

the mavericks are in big sizes as well like 193 and not ultralight weights like 2200grams for the 105

there is also a whole new line of blackland skis- no photos but 'playful' directional light skis and eco friendly

That’s what I’ve been hearing but it’s super weird that K2 hasn’t said anything about it. No recall for the skis still out there even.

I think the 110 might be what I’m looking for in a daily touring ski if they can fix the problem and get them back on the market.

ISPO was end of november, why isnt everything out yet? (I wasnt there this year..)

Because almost no hardgoods brands go any more, brands aren't ready to show/launch products yet. It's turned into a softgoods tradeshow.

Seems like a lot of stuff gets peeped at summit no?

Not surprised, thanks for the insight. I've been out of the business for a couple of years now. Its crazy the tradeshow for the next year is now before the season actually starts.. How about catalogs than? Order dates have been pushed forwards as well every year, and to order you need to know what there is to order :) Or do shops need to sign a NDA to get a catalog and ordersheet these days?

Catalogs should be available now, at the very least as a PDF. Definitely hit up your local rep and he should be able to send one your way.

No NDA but we don’t do printed catalogs any more it’s all digital so it’s easy to email a copy to the head buyer and those people are generally trusted not to leak things out. Not having a physical copy of a Cato log in a shop also makes it harder for photos to leak out too. It does kind of suck though I love seeing all the leaked pictures

Haha sure we mostly used pdf but as you say those can be shared very easy. Strange nobody leaks those..

It’s who the pdf’s are sent to I think. The average shop kid on the floor who put things up here in the past is not getting sent them.

haha sure, like its impossible to create a fake / temporary account ;)

Yeah but shop buyers generally are not on Newschollers that was my point. Some are yeah but they are also not making fake accounts.

They’re doing pretty good in boots, but most of the big brands

,K2 included, do well selling products to the average skier.

doesn’t look much different ?

It's minor tweaks for durability but major quality of life for the techs installing them especially with the AFD which will mean less failures because of sloppy installation. Functionally it's the same.

Just a blue version of line's camo graphic. Not the Chonics and not the Bacons, could be a Vision update maybe?

It’s their blue proto graphic. Definitely not a vision. I would guess a new TW pro ski since he’s ripping it in the park

Some people ride vision 98s in the park casually, and with the consistent durability updates it could be possible. Besides its Line, every ski is a freestyle ski

yeah he had an FT pro model boot and then a K2 one (basically the same)

my guess is he’s riding an old FT tongue in this photo and most likely a K2 boot

Sammy is a non sample size so unfortunately it take a little longer to get him new boots. But he is still riding the k2 boots and we are developing new projects with him.

Out of curiosity, what does 'non sample size' mean? Does Sammy get custom boots from his own mold?

Our sample size la are 27.5 for men and 23.5 for women. Sammy is a 25.5 but he uses the same stock boots as you could buy.
