24/25 Gear hype thread!

New k2 spare parts for fl3x boots are so hard to get that even Sammy has to use old full tilt parts, smh

or he's just using an old tongue because he doesn't want to be wasteful to get something he already has...

The parts really aren't that hard to get, most dealers are just super lazy and inefficient in searching for people. We can get everything right now except a few method cable sizes.

It's minor tweaks for durability but major quality of life for the techs installing them especially with the AFD which will mean less failures because of sloppy installation. Functionally it's the same.

damn... so this is really the binding version that I saw in the beginning of 2020 without any further updates. almost 4 years later :\ Still the middle 2 screws will ruin the ski core over time and probably pull out. Hopefully the AFD mechanism will be reworked. I imagine the ski brake lock is also unchanged. Any additional risers? Any solutions to lack of zero angle touring mode at the heel?

Yes the afd is getting reworked, I was led to believe the brake lock is getting an update as well. I wouldn't expect and additional features for touring risers or 0 angle just cause it's a 5050 binding. I actually think they will be better for pullouts on the toe. If you look at the new version the two screws that used to be under the afd, now screw through the whole assembly. This would create a more even dispersion of torque, reducing pullout risk

you can all rejoice in knowing there's an added brake size for pivots next year, the one (especially us shop folk) have been pining for. 105mm

Looks like the echo 106. Theres also an echo 116 coming out

It's called the X, 116 underfoot and longer turn radius' than the blank. Looks like a sick ski, and yes I just gave a compliment to Salomon, shocking I know.

Stay tuned for February, something else is also coming but that's as much as I can say. Salomon might finally be cool again... Which would be great as my dislike for them was never something I wanted but even the rep told me that they're trying to separate themselves from just a brand under Amer sports into their own unique brand again. I've seem them as stagnant for the past at least 5 years (basically since rocker2 went away and qst's came out), so this is a welcome change of pace.

our salomon rep was also pretty stoked about future for salomon when he explained it. things sound pretty damn sick tbh

i have seen the 2024-45 rossi dynastar catalog and there is no new pivot next year

there is, but is an evolution type thing, not revolution.

As far as I can remember from looking at a photo: the changes are in how the dildo is attached to the brake assembly (less angle to promote more adjustability and the adjustable part has been tweaked as well), that the death pinch bar has been tweaked to prevent said pinching as a feature and that the pole pushy point has a metal insert.

No, it will not make your old pivots obsolete, but it sounds like they've managed to tweak them for the slightly better (after what 7years of trying?).

And yes, as has been clarified above - the depicted toe is the new Cast toe. The Pivot 15/18 toe does not change for 24/25 as far as I can recall.

And re Salomon - they are making a ton of shrewd business decisions wrt freeride imho. They have skis that will make a lot of skiers really happy - with the 106 and the new wider offering described above on side complimenting the 98 and Blank on the other. When you include gen 1 and the soon to be released gen 2 Shift into the mix, then it is hard to label their past few offerings as remarkably successful, even if they have nixed any true freestyle offerings for the time being. Color me impressed. There are a shit ton of their skis on my local hill under lots of really proficient skiers, and I have yet to talk to anybody who do not like their new sticks.

Stoked for Salomon, then. Salomon Snowboards has been killing it for a while with both shapes and construction/materials, I always thought the skis were lagging behind. I’d love to see some progressive shapes with the new QST and Echo constructions!

Nice find!

so, enforcer 110 is dead, and the 104 no longer gets the “free” in the naming-convention. And the enforcer 100 is now 99 underfoot, which says they went through a lot of effort to remake it

24/25 Enforcer 99 protos just arrived, looking forward to mounting them and putting them through the wringer soon
