Tuesday at 6 am the waves are going to be at 22 feet!!! All the lakes are blowing up, so all you fresh water surfers fucking grab your boards and slay. Me and my buds we'll be working our way down the north coast from west to east then crossing into michigan and doing the south coast east to west to follow the storm. Hope to see people out and hopefully there are lots of sheltered bays along the way to form nice ridable waves!

^^^ No Doubt, we're going to be looking for more sheltered bays as those 22 footers coming straight in will be death traps. I'm comfy with up to 12 foot faces and would like to up that on this little voyage, one of the guys in our crew went to school in Hawii tho and trips all over the world and he's surfed 20 plus faces on several occasions.

Here's some like 3 year old stuff from the guys I ride with and this is all north shore superior

PS the general public should know the waves in that little video are all like 3 to 5 foot faces

yea those are not even close to 22 foot faces. if you go i want footage or pics of these. Never seen 22 on the ocean let alone a LAKE. good luck/you are fucking lucky to get to go hit that

Its a northwest swell. Which means the waves are gonna end up in the eastern part of the lake. So unfortunately duluth is gonna be flat.

Roy, were you part of the crew that was at stoney in august?

I don't think so seeing how I'm talking faces and not backs and the main rider in that video is 6' 3" and you can clearly see the waves between just over his waist to just over head.

Yea I never said they where I said that 22 footers were in the forcast no in the video and you wouldn't want to surf wind blow lake waves that big as it would be a death trap.

THIS is a 10-12 foot wave

K so here's what happened. Sunday which was supposed to be good was a complete bust for me as I'm working out of town right now on the far east of the lake and the storm was delayed. My buddies on the Northern part of the lake (Terrace Bay) rode 7 to 10 foot (****faces not backs). Monday morning its raining so I don't have to work, I'm supposed to drive out to Alona Bay and warm up on some small stuff while I wait for my buddies to meet me there, 1 problem it only works there when its big or it just shore brakes in to a mine field of rocks and it wasn't that big. Finally after an hour my buds show up, and we start searching for some swell. We found lots of cool sick spots in the Sault Ste Marie area but due to the delay in the storm it was all just building so we made the call to drive back an hour and check Alona again. It didn't look like much but looking for waves is like trying to pick up at the bar; the longer your looking the lower your standards get. What ever though, I suit up and jump in. After grabbing my second wave I paddled back out to where I was waiting before and turned to see my buddies slowly getting ready only to suddendly notice that I had a set coming in and about to break right behind me. I paddled like mad to get past them, and from then on they just started fireing. It was like every time you grabbe a wave you had to padd that much further out for the next set. We where scoring some good clean powerful spaced out guys. They kind of died out for 10 mins and I remember telling Jer and Kenny "yo I think its dieing out" just before grabbing a wave, on the paddle back out it was like the lake was like "oh no its not". I'm just looking at this fucking monster wall of water (def one of the biggest waves of the day) and it starts to barrel and I first I'm like this is fucking beautiful until I realize its about to break right on me, I got worked, and held to by that wave and the next one for a bit longer then I wanted to. I managed to maker back out with my buddies laughing going "dieing out eh". From then on it was just blasting, if you've ever seen the video "unsalted" it was even a bit bigger we all agreed on then their segment on Alona. It was sick and after awhile I was super tired but that was okay cuz I just sat back and me and Kenny watched the Jermy Bauery show. Guy's bustein huge floaters on rights and lefts, playing chicken with the boulders in the mine feild sections, and whippin his board all over he even grab a tiny bit of air a couple of times by acciedent. We surfed till it was only lit by the moon. Unfortunatly today it didn't rain like i was hoping so I didn't get off work, but those guys ripped today to and I'll update you when I hear from them and they should have taking some pictures this time.
