22/23 gear hype!

Truth!

I got out on the demo today in a lot of mixed conditions and am pretty impressed. Such a similar shape to the old blog but with some much needed backbone underfoot. I never thought the weight was holding it back even on a steep icy groomer they use for racing at Copper.

So it is super close to the blog?!

I guess this is the ski Dylan had with the outline topsheet ?

Most of the more freeride guys on the team are on this ski. I’m stoked to try it soon, should be a really rad freeride charger that line has been lacking since the old influence/prophet days.

It probably will sound ignorant, but could you please name a few available in Europe as widely as atomic and in 1950-2050g weight range for ~185 size?

I was looking for something in 106-110 waist, that could be more directional than revolt 104 but still playful. Fall in love with the bents when saw them in leaked catalog. until I noticed that weight. It have been the fastest love/hate in my life so far

I'm so stoked about the weight haha! I feel like there are plenty of 2000+ gram skis that have a similar shape and rocker profile and fill the niche you're talking about really well. But at that 1800ish gram weight, this has the potential to be such a sick 50/50 or even dedicated touring ski, and there are a lot less skis like that on the market right now. I think it hits a rad niche that's needed more competition for years.

102FR

revolt 104

prodigy 3.0

I'm not crazy about the weight either, but I will say atomic has gotten it even across the board. I love my 120s for tight tress & pow, I never loved the 100s

Fischer and Volkl are not in the needed waist range.

Prodigy is a good call, but their topsheets suck (I don't know how faction does it, but every year their graphics get worse)

P.S. I have revolt 104 in 180 with mount on the line.

It's a ski with almost center mount - good for fooling around, but not good enough for me in the deep. I'm searching for something like the Moment WC108 but european made. (sorry Moment, shipping + duty taxes make your skis golden. even though I liked Bibby Pro a lot, I can't justify that price increase)

P.P.S. Bent 100 - sucks. I don't understand why people like them.

You heard it here first. Candide got dropped/left Faction for -23.

See Candide dropped a new video today and he was skiing some new skis. On the very last scene you can make out that they have Faction logos on the bases so maybe he’s still skiing for them in 23?

That's a fair question. I do think that if you're down with a 1950 g ski, you shouldn't be scared of an 1850 g ski, which I bet is closer to what the 188 BC 110 weighs. And if you're looking for a "heavier" ski than a BC 110, your top end should be closer to 2200g. If you open it up to that, there are a ton of options. Going with "available as widely as Atomic" is sort of impossible, but here are some skis to look at :

Dynastar M-Free 108

Faction Prodigy 3.0

Sego Big Horn 106

Moment Wildcat 108

Moment Deathwish

ON3P J110

Salomon QST 106

Movement Fly Two 105

K2 Reckoner 112

4FRNT Devastator

J Skis Vacation

Line SFB

Liberty Origin 106

Icelantic Nomad 105

Black Crows Atris

Armada ARV 106

I'm sure I missed a few, but there are a lot of options in the "not a touring ski but not too heavy to tour on" class at this width.

Personally, I'm very excited to see how the new 110 does in chopped up inbounds snow though, if it's anything like the 120 it will be a blast!

Anyone know the release date on the bents? The 110 is really making me itch to pull the trigger on them.

Figuring that out with the rep myself currently. If we get some I’d be happy to offer NSers our local discount.

Let me know I’d be more than happy to purchase them from you guys as soon as they release.

CT 3.0 2021 or 2022,

2021 is heavier

No they’re the same. 20/21 and 21/22 the changes were made to the 1.0 and 2.0. 3.0 for 19/20 was the light core that kept breaking and then for 20/21 they changed it to what it is now.

No it's not new skis, I believe it's just the current year 5.0, black topsheet and orange bases

Closer inspection I think you’re right as they had CT graphics for sure.

On the CT 3.0 for 22 they went to carbon sheet vs the titanal binding reinforcement and a slightly lighter core again as they are 200gr lighter than the 21 versions were. Still a bit heavier than the 20 model and should be way better built.

The CT 1.0 changes shape while the 2.0 stayed the same but both lost 2 sheets of titanal underfoot, less rubber dampening and lighter core. The 22 CT 1.0 and CT 2.0 are around 400gr lighter than the 21 versions.

ah, I stand corrected! didn't know about the move to carbon

Extremely similar to the 120, nothing like the 100 haha

I'm stoked to hear this. I am not a big fan of the 100 so something more like the 120 is awesome. Hopefully i can get my hands on a set to demo this season.

Yes we will have under the k2 boots brand the Recon/Anthem, Mindbender, BFC, the new Disptach boots and the new FL3X collection which were the full tilt boots.

Wait so will k2 have it’s previous boots, mindbender etc and have the “full tilt” boots aswell?

anyone got any beta on the new Ranger Fischer has been teasing? Hope they don't change the 115 FR too much. It is perfect - best ski I've ever skied ( I ski Snowbird/Alta mainly and is tailored to be a stable charger in that environment)

Any updates on the release date for the new bentchetler lineup? Would like to get some 110s as soon as possible. Look like they'll be a great one ski quiver out here on the west coast.

This Dispatch collection has me really interested! From boot to ski, anything else you can share about it? Is it more touring focused then the mindbender boot? Is the ski heavier then the waybacks?

Haha I seriously think salomon is one of the most irrelevant companies in the ski industry right now. Like they used to be the pinnacle for freeride and freeskiing and now they’re the laughing stock.

It is pretty sad to see. The saving grace for them is bindings and boots. I have heard great things about the QST line up but it’s not my cup of tea.

Blank was generally the first ski to sell out for many shops this year in N/A. Honestly rightly so, it was one of the best new skis for this year.

QST 98 sold well too and the updated 106 will likely sell really well too.

In boots they have been a consistent top 3 in NA for the last 20 years, if not #1. So much so they can have a 3 season disaster (QST boot) and still keep on moving along.

that’s before we get to bindings. Have you heard of the Shift?

Doing fine even if they might have washed their hands of the expensive and high headache markets newschoolers.com members generally are in.

Ski Industry or park skiing?

Salomon is still charging hard in the backcountry scene.

Who is designing these pivots, bring back fluorescent orange the color we all want that you stole from us #FKSforlyfe

So as far as boots go, the Dispatch range is an all new collection for us. We have 5 models for 22, 3 for men and 2 for women.

The Top end men's boot is the Dispatch Pro. That is a full on 130 freetour beast. It can drive big skis but is still really efficient uphill. All models have 60 degrees range of motion and the cuff height has been optimized for the best of both fore and after movement as well as ski performance. In the back we have a small pebax spoiler which works a little like the carbon base in some running shoes. It stores energy when the cuff flex's forward and releases the energy to help propel the boot forward. We use Pebax in the shell and cuff in all but the base Dispatch model which still uses a Pebax shell but has a TPU cuff. TPU was used to give the base model a more alpine boot feel for uses perhaps buying there first backcountry setup and who are used to the feel of a full TPU boot.

Weights range from 1450 - 1550g and a big factor in that weight is we did not cheap out on the liners. We could have made these boots way lighter by putting in a lighter weight liner like many brands do, but that is not something we wanted to do. We felt there was more value by giving you a decent liner at the expense of 50-100g rather than you having to buy an aftermarket liner just to make these boots fit and ski well.

We also use the BOA liner on the men's Pro boot which I'm loving and I'm using in other boots too.

The other models in the line are the Dispatch LT for men and women. This is the lightest of the line but still a full 120 flex and women's go down to a true 22.

The base model is the Dispatch which is 110 flex and again down to 22 for women.

All models have a 9523 vibram outsole and we use Dynafit inserts on all models.

Think of Dispatch as the touring boot for skiers who want to get out into the backcountry in really efficient and easy to use boot but still prioritize and want downhill ski performance. These probably will not be the boots you do a 5 day Haute Route trip in but they will be the boots you wear for a big day of actual skiing in the backcountry or even as your one boot for both backcountry and some resort use.

Way more info too, much too put here, so let me know your questions.

I will say that the blank 112 in a 194 looks like an amazing ski

Salomon is highly relevant, the niche you want them to give a shit about is what is irrelevant to the wider industry.
