21 and Summer Camp

Whats up NS,

I'm a junior in college, 21 years old, and I was wonderin if a lot of people my age go to Windells, COC, or Woodward? I don't know a ton about the summer camps tho. I have the money, and I'd like to go to a camp, but I want to make sure there would be kids my age there to ride with.

Thanks!

i really dont think many people our age go to summer camps. i could be insanely and totally wrong, but i feel like windells and all those places advertise and appeal to the younger crowd. no hate, but i just see a ton of draw for the 13-17 age group at those facilities. if i had the money to go out west i would just rent a house or plop my tent down and spend the money for a summer pass and ride as long as i could rather than be limited to one session for the same amount of money. your an adult now, no need to have counselors and meetings and a schedule to tell you how to ski. just go out there and live with the money you have. IMO

Pretty sure places like Windells/COC or who ever else all offer adult camps. Instead of going to a middleschool dance with 90% guys you can go out to the bars when your done skiing.

Go to Hood early to late june and just camp there. That is the best way to shred a sick park and not feel like a creepy rapist.

true haha, yeah I did see that they do have adult camps, and goin to the bar is exactly what I was thinking...ill look into just living there for a few weeks too

Im 19 and wanna go to Windells this summer..We should make a little tent city of people over the age of 18 and just chill and get drunk and jam out at night, then shred during the day.

I seriously have nothing tieng me down, no summer classes this year so why not save 900 bucks and shred for a few weeks.

first time i went to summer camp i was 21 and it was literally the week that changed my life (I didnt know it at the time). went back to college, started the ski club, ran a little ski website after the club, and now i work with a company in the ski industry. Do it while you can! Worth every penny/loonie.

when i was at COC this summer there were a some of 20+ year olds. some stayed at the camp and some had park access with coaching that stayed out of camp.. your choice really i dont think anyone really cares about age

this. if you have the money for windells, you can easily stretch it for a few months out there. my friend camped out there for a month and a half last year and rode the public park at timberline every day... he said it was the best summer of his life, and that the park was amazing.

how much are the passes to hood just for the summer? thats exactly what i want to do. live in my van and shred everyday. and i always see people hiking features...do they not have lifts running during the summer?

Windells has between 15 and 20 adult campers for each summer session.

The adults stay in their own house across the street from campus with a hot tub where drinking is allowed if over 21.

We will take you to local bars in Brightwood, Rhododendron, and Govy.

Sushi in downtown portland... and we pay for it!

and after sushi youll hit up the abundance of strip clubs portland has to offer.

Just pitch a tent at a campground for free/next to nothing, why would you pay more than you have too?

Never too old... live the dream...Idk about Windells but COC has adult camp and a lot of the people there are over 19 anyway.

I went to windells last year when i was 19, i went with my little brother, had the same thoughts as you thought i was too old for sure. But Anyone over 18 gets throw in the adult house across the street, and it's a time and a half there's a hottub, pool table, and bonfire pit.

The house has it's own van and there's a "counsellor" who takes you guys into town for supper every night, and takes you to the grocery stores for booze and food etc. One night is sushi night in portland, another night everyone goes down to the skyway bar for a night out.

Adults get a private session in BOB every night at 10pm when there's no little kids running around.

I went to High North when I was 20 and had a blast! I still think about my experience to this day. I didn't even go to the adult camp, but it was nice to hang out in the bars every night with all the coaches. Do eet!

there are about 10 to 20 adult campers (ages 18-40ish) each session at windells in the summer. they have an entire other activities agenda for the adult campers. you can check out the program on their site.

that's awesome to hear...i'm definitely planning on goin to camp this year..so stoked (hit me up if your 18+ and are planning on goin)

This

I went when I was 19, but the vibe across the street is spot on. I never felt out of place as an adult and you're delightfully isolated from the youngins. Even better was tramp sessions after everyone else had been put to bed.

all in all it was one hell of a time, but at 21, crashing in govy camp, shredding public park, and renting a car is also a very reasonable option

OP I went to Windells when I was like 19, me and my friend both stayed at the adult house across the street and it was pretty sick. You have an age range from 18-40, and overall the accommodations are way better than the rest of the campus houses. Also the counsler for the adult house was super legit, his name was K-mart but he doesn't work there anymore I think, but yea anyways he made it a lot of fun. O yea and when your on the hill everything is the same for everyone, in case you were worried about that.

I've heard from my friend that went to the adult camp that it's tenfold better than the regular camp. You ski, come down, hit the hot tub, play BP, and toke.

This being said.

I'm really interested in doing this Windells Adult camp now.

As well as my girlfriend.

Does anyone know if there is car space? Instead of flying?

Is the overnight package just the same as day, but with a place to crash and food provided?

if your'e asking if your'e allowed to drive to camp you are, and there is parking at the adult house. Yes overnight camp includes everything, day camp includes everything but a bed to sleep in.

Id recommend over night camp for an adult because its more fun to be involved at all times rather than coming and going.

i did this. best week of my life ever. deff better than COC.

AND THERES A HOTTUB!!!! and the house has a pool table n shit.

and youre not around a bunch of 12 year old kids
