21/22 gear hype thread

Sounds really, consider me intrigued.

Did I understand correctly that next years Prime Professional is the exact same boot as this years Hawx Prime 130S with a different color way?

So I could buy this years boot, and add the liner as well as strap later when available and if needed?

Also, how is the warmth in the foam injected liner? From the blister podcast I understood that the injected foam is softer than a "standard" foam? Does that mean easier on-off as well as better circulation?

Hawx Prime 130 Professional will look the same as the Ultra version and with a Mimic Professional liner and Professional Dual Strap. The shell/cuff/last doesn't change, so if you have a current Hawx Prime and want to add the liner and strap, you can totally do that.

I find the Mimic Professional liner to be as warm as our other liners. Actually, I am surprised how warm it is given its thinness. The foam that is used in the liner is a PU-based foam that is generally softer than what would normally be used in a world cup foam liner. This doesn't mean "spongy" but it doesn't mean "cement". It's just really comfortable. I wouldn't say it's easier to put on, but it's not necessarily harder. Feels like a normal 130 as far as step-in goes. Because the liner is exactly your foot shape, you don't need to buckle the boots that tightly, so your circulation should improve. I don't need to crank down on the buckles nearly as much with this liner.

New professional series looks rad! Some very cool stuff going on there. But how the hell are you selling all that for $850!

Thanks, homie! I guess the Atomic US team is coming out guns blazing on this one haha.

I bet world cup racers have practice boots and race boots. Actually in typing that, that sounds stupid as fuck but it's crazy enough sport. They have three skis for one discipline.

I know for a fact most have multiple pairs of boots, usually one for tech vs. speed events, sometimes even for different snow types.

I was more curious as to how they dealt with cold feet because I've never really seen anyone publicly endorse a certain product or such.

Yup. Their boots are also refit like 15 times a season because all of them start at super low volume, 92mm wide feet prisons and are all customized for each skiers feet. They’re constantly being refit to make sure that there isn’t an extra room

I don’t think so—it’s the same last, but the shell is different next year?

I agree. I was skiing yesterday in negative temps and was surprised how well the XTD did. Definitely do not need to crank the buckles either. Overall it fits really well and skis very similar to my Ultra 130s to the point that I may just get rid of the Ultra 130s all together and just use the XTD.

Actually, BDog Edgeless will have the same design as last season.

I was wrong. This was actually the new BDog Edgeless design. I was confused because I got a catalogue where all the new skis where in, but the Edgeless still had the old design. I got the final images and information now about the armada lineup.

All skis should be live tonight or tomorrow, working on it right now:https://prime-skiing.de/tag/produktneuheiten-2022-ski/?herstellername=armada

Edgeless lengths were right though: 164,172,180

Edollos are the same graphic from the 06 Thall. Like copy and pasted. Wonder what’s up with that?

The first Al Dentes were copypasted from the OG ARV too. I think Henrik is doing it to shout out Armada/Tanner's legacy, and the retro graphics look good IMO.

Did Armada decide to go back to the 2.5mm edge on the Arv 96?

Yeah they are like narrow snowboards, its going to be the new thing in snow sliding.

What boot does he have on?

A Dalbello I think, unless he doesn’t ride for them anymore?

Looks to be a K2 boot. Still waiting to see Full tilt project X but [tag=154780]@tomPietrowski[/tag] just keeps teasing us with k2s.

I was just gonna say it’s definitely a K2 boot, also yeah I’ve been DMing Tom almost daily for the Project X, maybe if we keep bugging him here they can get it out to us so we can buy all of them and hoard them

That is maybe the first women’s specific ski I’ve ever seen go above the 170 range.

Same!! I was talking to some buddies at armada and they said it was designed as more of a unisex ski hence adding the 180 and 188 length

Makes sense especially since they stiffened the ARV up a lot. I would say that the ARW is probably a good bit softer as well.

I would agree as well. Shit the regular 116 and the UL 116 are a big difference in flex so I would assume the same for the 106

I still remember the old K2s with the little lights in them. They were the LA Gears of 90s skis, and they were rad.
