Since Newschoolers has been nothing short of cooperation and willing to have constructive conversations on every topic, especially cheese, Im curious how you think things are going to go down this year. Will Biden expand elder care in the White House? Will Trump decapitate Nikki Haley with the help of Ted Cruz and his Zodiac Powers? Or will the US band together to elect Robert F. Kennedy Jr and ban all cancer-causing vaccines(lol)? Its gonna be a whirlwind.

Trump is a maniac, Biden is 76 going on 120, RFK needs to clear his god damn throat I seriously cannot listen to him it drives me insane. Nikki Haley is basically Hillary Clinton, center right chameleon politician. Our prospects have looked better, if we’re being honest

I guess if you want any change in the country, and I mean change, like a strong dictator or someone that will actually stand by our amendments and make unnecessary abortions illegal, build a wall, and abolish fruitloopery transitions for the youth, you're gonna have vote newsheepers. I'll start selling campaign shirts, I just got a screenprinter

george Washington clearly stated in the constitution that the US should not have a two-party system. yes, technically anyone can run, but they will lose to the majorly funded republicans and democrats

Honestly if people are desperate for a strong third party, then you need to start voting for one, but if too many people are dissatisfied with the third party candidates, then well still be a two party system. Last time a third party won a state was 1968. Maybe this years election will see a surge for independent RFK jr as hes polling 15-20% in some polls.

Ah nice. We haven’t had a political post in a while. This will follow form with the rest and turn into a shit throwing show soon enough. 2024 let’s go

Ill start haha. Persoanlly i think Trump is better than biden on a range of topics that isnt climate related and truly believe he implemented peace through strength on the global scale, but media coverage and his own ego also fought to destroy his image however idk if I could ever see myself voting for biden so maybe ill just close my eyes and point to a person on the ballot because theres usually a lot of people on there(might be my most likely outcome).

Well it happened. Time to make the queso is what they say in my neck of the woods. The democrats mix in a bit of guac and the republicans mix in all sorts of stuff although the dems usually have the good margs and republicans just have cheap beer. Fuck duud.

make it 1992 again

Can’t wait for the two major parties to throw out their dog juice candidates and then be told by everyone the voting third party is wasting my vote or voting for whatever evil they see as worse. Idaho will go red anyway so I’m just hoping to get a say in the primary.

The problem with this thinking is you can’t build a viable third party just by putting up some random YouTube star for the presidential election. People need to organize in the trenches at the local level, start contesting wack a doo incumbents in state legislatures and city council seats. Grab a couple of Senate seats and become relevant. Show people what kind of government you can put together when an opposition party is out there fighting everything you try to do. You know, pretty much the exact opposite of everything the Libertarian party has done so far.

He didnt. Washington wasnt even the one who wrote the constitution. That would be James Madison who then worked in part with Alexander Hamilton and John Jay writing the dozens of federalist papers to defend the constitution. George washington however in his farewell address i believe did mention this along with calling not to be a third term president as it would institute closely with monarchal rule.

FDR was one of the worst "greats" tbh. Did a lot of good programs with the New Deal, but overall never really got out of the depression until WWII and used the New Deal as something to still be worked upon as a factor to vote for him in 36. then on top of that the Japanese internment camps just because Japan was a WWII enemy. FDR might of helped in some ways, but also did a lot of bad things too. People saw him as a sympathetic president though in times of struggle because of his fireside chats and repealing the prohibition amendment. If you want to look at an iconic 1900s president, id look no further than Eisenhower. yes he did build up the military-industrial complex but in his farewell address, was made famous for regretting the decision but he basically jumpstarted the US modern economy with the Interstate highway system. Also it wouldn't be uncommon for someone of past military experience to want to add more to it, especially after being the supreme allied commander in Europe during WWII

I’m just not looking forward to being late to work because of the inbred fat ass trump supporter parades that purposefully slow down traffic during commuting hours. Very patriotic of them to directly harm the working class.

yeah. im not saying the New Deal was bad. It was great in getting people back to doing productive things in society and a lot of great infrastructure projects, but it sorely missed its goals of actually climbing the economy out of the depression which only got worse when he asked the farmers to boost production to absurd levels causing the soil to dry up. The dust bowl surely wasn't fun, but production and exports were really jumpstarted during WWII when the country truly came back to work together.

well duh. protests that impede on the lives of others or destroy property; become reckless etc. should lose all of what they're fighting for because at the end of the day, most people don't care and to get into the way of our lives even deepens our own discontent.

I'd say 30 years ago blocking traffic was a good way to get media attention for a cause. Today there are better ways to get your message out that don't cause the people you are trying to reach to hate you.

I would say it’s even more effective now. Their hope is to get the reactions etc blasted all over social media. Someone gets out of the car and beats their ass, runs through them in the vehicle etc suddenly being blasted online seems very effective. May not get the reaction they want but it’s being broadcasted much faster and much farther now

Thats just an op ed piece on history.com lmao. The actual constitution mentions nothing about political parties or factions. These are just groups of people who interpret the laws of the country differently. Some may think abortion is something to be covered by the federal government or "well regulated militia" allows or doesn't allow for certain gun control legislation.

This my first election I can vote and I don’t even know if I’m gonna bother

It's not as bad as in the UK, we've got an election coming up too, and it's just two different flavours of boring here, at least your politicians are entertaining. Insane, but entertaining.
