Finally got to watch an event outside live, pipe boys threw down, some nasty crashes at the end there, glad Blunck got up after that last slam.
as for the wind, yes, very windy. The wall seemed to be doing a job, but it was also roaring up from the bottom, made for some chilly runs.
back at the snow rodeo during New Years in Calgary, a Chinook was rolling in just as the men were ramping up to drop in, we had weather holds, but it was still one of those “drop in when you’re ready” situations. They were saying it’s not the biggest factor when you’re spinning, but straight or open airs we’re much worse.
I wasn’t on top of this pipe here in china, but it seemed much gustier in Calgary

Ironically a day late given I made the thread, but combined spare thoughts:
What the hell was up with Carly Margulies' binding popping off? For anybody here who's a ski tech, was that just a weird malfunction, or a tech error?
I thought it was really windy the first few runs, then realized it was a helicopter right above the pipe. That seems like a terrible idea for a number of reasons.
That switch flare from Ling Fanghui might be the spiciest single trick in the women's field.
Hannah Faulhaber is going to be podiuming in the next few years with how big she's already going.
I could quite well be wrong, but I think Cassie Sharpe's was the first time I've ever seen anybody in the women's field do 10s both ways.
Eileen is just on another level. Hopefully it'll force some progression, otherwise she's going to be dominant. Big ups for three medals in three events, too.
Men's conditions looked terrifying. The wind seemed like it was as big a factor as a dump of fresh powder, just robbing people of speed and messing with their pops.
I've never been a huge fan of David Wise, but that true nose switch dub 10 in his first run was beautiful - minus the landing. With two Olympic golds and a silver, plus seven X Games medals, I think he's part of the conversation for greatest pipe skier of all time. Dumont and Thall are the only others even close to that amount of hardware.
Gus' crash was gnarly. It's impressive he skied away. It's a shame that the wind fucked up what I assume was the final competition run of his career, but at least he put down something clean.
I don't think I've ever seen an alley-oop dub cork 10 in the pipe before.
