2022 Olympics Halfpipe

Slope is done, and I'm bored on an overnight shift at work, so it's time to talk halfpipe. Women's and men's qualifiers are Thursday morning/afternoon, with finals Friday and Saturday morning respectively.

What're people's predictions? [tag=75759]@rudager[/tag] what's your intel from the site? I'm just hopeful there are more clean runs than in slope. I imagine wind won't be as much of an issue, if nothing else.

Ayyyyyy, pipe looks mint and ready.

I was watching the ladies practice in it today while skiing through the corral, and they look ready. It’s still pretty cold out here, which should hopefully keep it fast and boosty.

Tomorrow is a loaded day for all the freestyle events. Women’s qualifiers in the morning, 9:30 local time, 6:30pm mountain time. Followed by Womens Ski Cross qualifiers at 11:30 local/8:30 mountain time (everyone should watch ski cross, such a crazy spectator sport. Also go Brit!)

Then Mens Halfpipe qualies at 12:30 local/9:30 mountain time. And finishing off with Womens Ski cross finals at 2pm local/11pm mountain.

I’m not working the halfpipe event, so I haven’t seen a ton of the training, but sounds like the wall barrier is a game changer. Looking forward to watching it (I just watch the direct cable cam feed )

Stoked to watch team Canada and especially the Calgary boys throw down. I worked the Snow Rodeo in Calgary earlier this year, love watching the pipe kids throw down.

Ben Harrington is one to watch for, great skier out of NZ, but brings a high level of stoke. Loved his energy at the Snow Rodeo in Calgary earlier this year.

but it’s not like it’s suddenly cold here. She’s been cold all week, and I mean cold. Plus it’s very dry here. But I’d just assume that these techs have their skis dialled. They were boosting.

This was really only in reference to the rails, if you have the correct temp of wax its no issue.

Nobody in skiing has a triple in the pipe, I'd be surprised if we ever see it. Snowboarders have one rider doing a triple and snowboarders have always had an advantage when it comes to multiple flips/spins, I doubt we'll see more than a few snowboarders do triples in the future as well.

Really hope to see Noah Bowman put down a run and get through to finals! The two run qualifier is really a pressure cooker. Also really hope to see more landed runs than in slope.

You’ll never see that. It’s locked away forever. We were close to seeing it, and then it cut away in the broadcast.

These guys were way too close to the lip of the pipe. Big no no.
