Guys, I'm 6' tall and around 175 lbs... I want a versatile ski that I can ride in the park (60-70%) with ease and still charge all over the mountain on various types of snow (groomers to those few times pow a year). I'm currently on the last year's Armada ARV96 184cm and I like them... Now I have two questions for when I'm willing to replace my current ski:

Kartel 98 or 108?

181 or 186?

Thanks for the help

I'd say K98 in a 186.

181 98 if you spending the majority of your time in the park. The 98 186 is for big dudes, you would be fine on them, but they wouldn't be as quick and fun on rails and jibs. The 181s will still ski the mountain well too.

This is correct. 186 if it was your all mountain, or 50/50 park and all mountain ski. But if you are in the park 60-70% of the time we would tell you to go 181.

I've been looking around the net for days now and idk what ski to choose and I don't have the ability to demo them but i'm stuck between the Kartel 108/116 or BG and I'm not sure what length to get. I was leaning towards the Kartel 108 at 181. I like to do a little bit of everything, I'm from Ohio but I travel out West to ski for a week or longer several times each winter. I ski groomers, backcountry, powder, crud, trees and glades, I like to charge, I ski moguls. I literally do it all and next winter we have a trip to Japan planned. What would be the ski for all these conditions? I like to mess around and try 180's and 360's I even do butters here and there a little bit but I spend no time in the park unless I just hit a jump when I pass it on my way down the hill. I'm 5'7 and I fluctutate from 155-165lbs

Mainly I would say I love bowls. I try to always hike for fresh lines, I ski chutes and when it's tracked out I stay in the trees or on the groomers.

I'm sure you guys can help point me in the right direction please all the input is really appreciated.

Just got my Magnus's and rode them they're so much fun and theyre great on rails, I was lucky enough to get the textured topsheet that apparently is more durable so ill definitely come back and say how my skis ended up with it, I don't think it looks as clean as the other topsheet but if its more durable they'll look better in the long run which is nice. I'm hyped

Go kartel 108 at 181. If you like to land and or ski switch at all then rule out the bg's. The k 116's would just be overkill in most conditions

Just pulled the trigger and bought the Kartel 108s at 181. Stoked

Someone talk me out of Selling my Black Ops and buying Billy Goats...

Or don't ;)

But seriously, I love my Jeff 114s, looking to replace them, can't afford K116s, looking at 189 Billy Goats as a soft snow ski/maybe take to japan? Didn't like the Black Ops as they felt heavy and dead compared to my Jeffs, but not as stable, is the BG gonna be an improvement or what should I expect here? Is tricking on the BGs even worth thinking about?

Saw this and it made me sad...

Don't listen to him. Jake Doan does a little bit of switch on his. Honestly, how much are you landing/skiing switch? Or how much do you want to land/ski switch?

If you are going backwards just a handful of times throughout the day, I'd say you'd be fine on BGs. If you are getting really playful then maybe get the K116. But if you already have Jeffs, why do you want a K116?

If you can bring two skis to Japan, bring a C&D and a K108. One ski - I'd take Billy Goats, no question.

Oh how I’d love a Cease&Desist to go with my K108s.

I’ll grt them next time, before they’re sold out

all that way to go straight into a ditch :(

Yup. That's why i'm a bit salty. Waited since august. Skis were mad fun until i broke em :/ really wish they didn't break.

I have cooled down. I was real mad, mostly because of people here on NS. Right now i have tried to put that damn thread behind me and try to get rid of this influenzia. Just had the perfect bluebird and i was inside with a 40 celcius feber. Really sucks. That's life i guess

Is there going to be another run of supergoats next season?

Orders stopped early November I believe

You are correct, but we made an extra pair or two that are available.

After that it’s waiting until next year most likely.

Early reviews on TGR are in the realm of “holy shit” to “giddy up” haha

I've been stalking tgr and my god some of them are so sexy. I just don't have the cash this season with all my comp fees and school. Gunna budget for some next year

That's why I was thinking BG quiver....keep the 186 for windy days when squaw closes upper mountain and it's more surfing and small cliffs than balls to the walls.

And then supers for balls to the walls;)

Just skied classic Targhee Christmas pow all last week. Definitely in love with the K108. Perfect one ski quiver, love the turn radius and the amount of early rise is spot on. The size is great too, I’m 6’1 200lbs and I’m happy with the 186. I think the 191 might’ve been a bit overkill.

Parents were jealous, they’re ditching their Volkls and getting on the ON3P bus. Thanks to whoever talked to them on the phone a couple days ago, think they ended up ordering some K108s and Jessies. The fact that you guys pick up the phone to answer questions like that was a huge selling point for them so kudos to great customer service.

Hey guys wanna pull the trigger on Kartel 108s in a 181 so badly just dont know if they will be to soft

im 5,10 and 145lbs and like to charge Whistler BC should I go stiffer carbon?

I'm 5"10 160 pounds and have a K108 in a 181 and have no problem charging at all. To add the stiffer carbon you would have to customize which is a sweet option but super expensive. I actually got the K108 because they were the most "chargey" of all the all mountain twin tips I looked at. They r playful when you want it but very stiff and chargey when needed. You also weigh less than me so you should be fine

6'2, 150/160 lbs, ripping around Canadian Rockies, looking for a stable, fun all mountain ski for jobbing, boosting side hits and cliffs, and all round high speed shenanigans. K108, easy, had the Jeff 114 in a 186, love em. Question is, 186 K108, or sack up and get the 191? Is the extra length gonna be that much more beneficial in regards to stability at the cost of quickness? Halp

People may tell you otherwise, but I'd say no, go with the 186.

Nah, you may ski aggressive but you're pretty light. The Kartels will be plenty stable without the added carbon.

Anyone able to dish out some details on these?

Not a production ski. One of two custom pairs we are making for someone whose name if we dropped in here, no one would believe. I still cannot believe who they are going to, to be honest. Definitely one of the cooler opportunities I’ve had since we got going. We are not really sure what we can say about them right now, so I will have to just leave it at that.
