Lol still rockin' multiple pairs of Presters over here. Favorite ski ever!

I agree, they have been my go to park ski for a while now, at least until slush season, they I switch to K98s.

Anyone from the factory want to talk about the difference in the customs when it comes to using less carbon or the softer 19oz glass?

Thanks!

I contacted them a few days ago asking the same thing. Here's the response I got (keep in mind that this is for the 176 Kartel 98):

"The stock layup for a 176 Kartel 98 is 22oz fiberglass with 2in carbon. Frankly, we do not recommend softening both the fiberglass and carbon to 19oz/1in because it becomes so soft that performance and durability become compromised. That leaves you with two options: 19oz + 2in, or 22oz +1in. Though they will be nearly identical in their flex, they will have different characteristics. 19oz + 2in is lighter, has more pop, and is more playful. 22oz + 1in is heavier, has less pop, and will be more damp/stable. Our recommendation for this particular ski is to go with 19oz fiberglass and 2in carbon. Hope that helps, thanks for your interest and support!"

I copped a pair of 2017 Magnuses in June. Do they soften up over time? There pretty hard to flex good by hand.

How many days have you ridden on them so far? They will definitely soften up over time, I usually find 20 days of good riding will break a pair of skis in nicely.

They're brand new. No summer skiing here on the east coast so I have no days on them. But I keep them in my room and hand flex them just about every day.

Rocker makes them easy to move around and push into butters. Flex supports you while you are there. We find most skis have a 6-8 day break in period where their flex settles slightly. Hope that helps.

Just got my Magnuses in the mail and didn't realize that they come detuned underfoot which actually works out awesome because I trust your guys' (and your machines) ability to evenly detune over me taking a file and hacking away. Skis look great, maybe even too good. I think my brother is convinced he wants a pair now, and its against the cool rules that he and i both have the same graphic, right? ;)

I mean.... if someone at the factory wants to hook it up with some 186 k108s with a stiffer tail and nose (tail/waist/nose of or around 8/9/7 rather than the claimed 6/9/6) with the second year top sheet and possibly green sidewalls, that would be very chyl.

Hmmm I might need to pick up a pair of K108 with a pink, pillow fight, or grizzlycorn topsheet.

Kinda wondering if I should get a softer carbon with that as well.

Was thinking same thing, any reviews on the ski with softer carbon?

K108 C&D topsheet, green sidewall, softer glass and stock carbon. Trigger pulled.

Well done, Sir! Thanks for the order and those are going to look sick as f@$k.

Man, local shop said I have to wait till October before I can get some kartels lol. Eh whatever hill opens in November anyway.

They commended me on my excellent choice and interest in on3p.

So many people are getting Vishnus this year, but I still believe that On3p is the better brand. I love stuff that's made in America, and On3p is prob the more durable ski still.

had k106

Want new on3ps

Have Vishnus for my park ski

Kinda wanna go custom k108 but I'd like to have a super well built park ski that can rip ass anywhere on the mountain and handle pow and I feel like k98's aren't wide enough since I've had the 106's

Decisions decisions...

+1 for custom 108s

That's what I'm leaning towards

Now to justify spending a thousand dollars on skis

Might save a few hundred extra and get a veneer top sheet

It's justified if you get veneer top sheets

We would love you to buy from one of our shops, but you also can order direct from us and we have Kartels in stock now :)

Permanent place in the quiver.

Was this a one time thing?

What are the odds of getting the eagle or dragon from the kartels on a veneer top sheet? These are unreal

For total transparency - these really detailed wood veneers that are out are basically internally only (for now at least). The Wren you see above was for Rowen - one of the founding members of ON3P - and there is a Kartel one out that our Marketing Manager has (he is also a long time friend of our Production Manager who hand cuts these).

These really detailed wood veneers take a substantial amount of time, hence why they are not offered publically. Trevor literally cuts there out by hand with a razor blade and then reassembles them, so the process is slow going.

We are discussing on some graphic variations for the wood veneers that would be a bit more practical for production, but no timeline for their release and right now we are keeping them classic and simple - with the wood veneer itself the primary focus.

If you have a simple/specific idea you are looking for, you are welcomed to email us and see what we can do. Thanks!

Are flex numbers an industry standard or do they vary between companies? I've been riding armada bdogs for years but I want something that is a bit stronger under my feet now, they're absolute noodles and always have been. I am stuck between the magnus and kartel 98, I think the kartel might be too big of a jump in the opposite direction (stiff) for me.

yeah flex ratings vary a lot, theyre notoriously inconsistent between companies. hell, im not even convinced that within a company's line theyre always very reliable

yeah I thought that was the case. God damn it I should really make it out to more demo days

To someone from ON3P, do you guys recommend further detuning of the Magnus' edges prior to rail skiing or should the factory detune be sufficient?

I always add an extra detune to my park skis before hitting rails. I found that it really extends the life of the edges in the long run.

Even if the edges are already detuned from the factory? If you feel the edge underfoot on the magnus (not sure if you have or not), they're pretty dull. You think I should detune más?

I mean, I take it to the extreme and basically go round underfoot with a belt sander...so maybe I'm not the best one to make this call for you, haha. That's just what I've done for years, and it's worked out well for me.

Don't have access to a belt sander..it'd be just a simple file. I probably will end up doing a couple passes with the file though. Thanks!

All of the new Magnus come from the factory with a park detune on them...you do not have to further detune them. I promise we do it right so you don't have to try and mess with your edges :)

Can the same be said about the kartel?

They are pretty well detuned here so you should be set. Just smooth out any impacts related damage & watch/seal any cracks that form and you should be getting a lot of life out of them.

Only the Magnus is being factory detuned right now. If you custom order any ski, a full detune is a custom option you can select but as many of the Kartel's we sell never see a park/rail, we aren't factory detuning anything besides the Magnus at this time.

I have never trust a "factory detune"....until now, I will always trust an ON3P tune. This is a great new approach to shipping a ski out from a factory - the less I have to do to a ski before I can ride them, the better.

The key to making them babies last, n switch them skis up.

Or just do everything both ways ;)

Might be finally ready to pull the trigger on some ON3Ps after years of thinking about it...K108 as one ski quiver? I'm 6'1, 200 should I go 191?

I think you could easily ride the 191, I am on the 186 and 6,1 165lbs and ski them with ease.

The extra few cm would support the weight difference between us.

Honestly if you are going to OSQ it. Probably the 186. Almost the entire shop is actually riding the 181. I picked up the 181 last season and loved it. I'm OSQ'ing this year.

Maybe Scott can chime in.

Thanks good advice. It will be a true one ski quiver for sure, I'll probably take out my old skis on shitty preseason days or whatever but every regular season day I will be looking to ride one ski only. I'm in Utah so obviously our snow is a bit lighter than PNW, not sure how that factors. I'll be going from 7 year old 186 Blends which have become literal noodles so maybe the jump to 191 will be too much.
