2015 Subaru WRX for all the suby fans

Every new car coming out is some ugly, over featured, overweight, bulbous, fucking high ground clearance, overpriced piece of shit.

The Jag F-Type Coupe would like a word with you...

But the new WRX has the FA20DIT in NA....and so does the new Forester XT, which i am a little pissed that the new FXT won't be offered with a manual transmission. Subaru absolutely shot themselves in the foot on that one.

Living in Denver and being in Colorado Springs (where one of the biggest Subaru dealers is) frequently, I see a lot of Subarus. The STI is a very popular car and I have seen maybe 2 current gen sedans but endless amounts of hatches. What the fuck were they thinking.

I don't know jake I think there a thousands of impreza wagons around but it's more like 50/50 sedans to wagons for wrx models

I should have specified, under 30k. There's plenty of cool cars at higher price ranges.

I'm not asking for a race car. I'm asking for something that is fun to drive down a road, not up a fucking mountain, is simple, has some power, and has some space. the new audi allroad is absolutely massive exterior wise, yet has pathetic room inside. I mean look at the new outback. Its fucking gigantic and has the ground clearance of a Jeep wrangler. The features and options are sick, but I don't want to drive a boat. With the legacy wagon gone, can't I get one that performs well on pavement? Where most of us, including the general population do 99.9% of our driving? Lower cars don't do well in snow? bullshit, they do just fine.

I find myself underwhelmed at this wrx, but It'll grow on me.Heres an Idea to what the sti will look like:

Honestly I think the addition of the wing really helps sharpen the lines and make it look less blobby. The reason all cars are kind of looking the same nowadays are because of pedestrian safety, so if you hit a person they kind of roll onto the hood or something. While I dont like the exterior of the new WRX, a 6 speed and better handling is definitely good news. Cant wait to see the new STI in January

Meanwhile heres a photoshop someone made on reddit of the wrx:

LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER, and you can see how it pulls off a wing

This is not my favourite wax. I must admit that I seriously fuck with the 2005-2007 models and this ... Is underwhelming. I don't like the lights (the BRZ can keep them shits). And it legitimately baffles me as to why they scrapped the hatchback .... I have fears that the WRX will go the way of the passat... At one point it was a halfway decent car that could get shit done and then it turned into the first choice family car, sacrificing the edgier, sportier versions of itself into turtleneck and loafer wearing car for 30 something's with new families. Barf. Give me back my hatchback, keep it low, wide and not too long - and give me some lights that don't look like they're squinting into the distance.

Yeah seriously. Oh and I just found this image:

Which puts into perspective that this car isnt too far off the GR chassis'. No comparison to the 2002-07 chassis but still, this thing might not look as bad as everyone first thinks

I stand corrected. It's just the new STis that will receive an EJ25. The new FXT is a joke, they didn't even allow for any kind of I/C upgrade leaving the car essentially crippled and limited to a Stage I reflash or a risky Stage II tune.

The FXT is rumoured to get a 6MT in Japan, Europe and Aus. It'll be here in a few years.

I say it's 2017 when Subaru has an opportunity to stop blowing goats again.

I was stoked when i saw the concept. But then they actually released the car which is a huge disappointment. When did Subaru strive to look like a Kia?

Hey wtf I'm in that boat and I would love an STI wagon (almost have the wife convinced). Still do agree that they should be more purpose built even if I plan on putting a car seat in it haha

so they've gotten rid of the wagon and all they're left with is a sport sedan with a v4 engine that looks like a toyota camry. Who in their right mind would buy this considering all of the sport sedans of a comparable price.

im a VW guy, and i agree. one of the only cars I'd currently consider buying if I didn't need space. the DSG in the R makes me sad though.

Read an article about the WRXs awhile ago, and one thing stuck, and it applies to this too.

It still has the interior of a uhaul

Looks lame, looks like a Corolla and it will probably look stupid with a big classic WRX STi spoiler, and I agree with everyone else the hatchbacks were a lot nicer.

I hope that they do bring the fxt with a 6 speed to NA, and they should at least put the scoop back on it. I love older gc, gf, and gd wrx's but i also love the 04-05 fxt and would love if subaru started making them like that again. Wishful thinking i suppose.

this, can't believe how they even could afford to get rid of the wag or the hatch. disappointed in subaru to say the least

Just copying a funny post I read in the Car Lounge forums...

Reposting my post from the other thread, as it will apply to every new WRX thread:

The WRX Appreciation Cycle

1. New car gets revealed.

"Eww! The last one looks way better! Subaru lost their way. GC8s were the best!!!!111"

2. New car is now 1 year old.

"Looks pretty good lowered, brah."

3. New car is not that new anymore, 2-3 years old.

"Wow. These have really grown on me! I wouldn't mind getting one myself!"

4. New car gets revealed.

"Eww! The last one looks way better! Subaru lost their way. GC8s were the best!!!!111"

And so on.

This might not work because I'm posting from my iPad

at least the older wrxs were somewhat unique this one looks just like every other average joe car.

Around 90K. My best friend's father has one. He has the v8-S. It has a Shelby Cobra motor in it. Supercharged, it screams, and sounds amazing. When you down shift it it backfires and crackles, it's a real powerful car.

cmon man, i had to copy paste that in the searchbar.but im not a huge subaru fan. i would take an a volvo, audi, or bimmer over a wrx any day.

Admittedly, other than the STI, I would never even consider a Subaru, this new WRX included, but how can you say it looks like "any other average car" and then go on to mention Audis and BMWs? Unless you're talking about M or S/RS models, those cars are about as bland as you can get in the looks department. I'd still take a 3 series or A4 over a WRX, but don't be a typical German fanboy.

People will definitely grown to like it. But to be fair, Subaru royally fucked up the 08 design, worst year for the wrx ever.

Also lolled at the mad guy a few posts up because subaru put in a "v4" engine hahaha

its a little better looking then an average car, but in my opinion not by much. german engineering produces superior cars.
