2015/2016 NFL Thread

It's more than the qbs, everyone overlooks a good offensive line. A good oline is the difference between a good qb and a good rb as well. Denver is a good example of this, both cj and ronnie got tds but that's because they just ran through holes, it wasn't like they did anything spectacular. There are plenty of awesome qbs too on every team but as soon as they feel pressure or can't find an open receiver or their rb gets tackled in the backfield, everything changes.

the Colts have blatantly ignored their offensive line and they are a pitiful excuse of a football team because of it. They have caused Andrew Luck to regress and I genuinely hope they move him for the kid's sake.

Colts looked good in the 4th quarter last night, if they just show up like that for the rest of the season they'll at least win their shity division and could try to win a playoff game.

Ruining it!? That's the best part! And who can't get behind the idea of the Pats winning another Super Bowl this year and watching Goodell have to hand another Lombardi trophy over to Brady after all the stories and lies Goodell and his bitter little friends at the NFL came up with to slander Tom and the Patriots during the offseason? Definitely the feel good story of the year if it were to happen, a true comeback tale of resilience and heart in the face of overwhelming odds.

You took that comment completely wrong. I meant that watching the patriots all the time could make the rest of the nfl look like horseshit

Oh, no, I know what you meant, I was just saying that it makes me happy to see how much better than everyone else the Pats look right now, doesn't matter to me at all if the rest of the league is awful to watch in comparison. But also totally understand what you mean about how watching Brady play week in week out makes every other offense look shittier than they really are.

Eddie Lacy needs to get going to help the Packers and get some damn fantasy points. Huge waste of a first pick.

I'm so pissed at him.

He gained some weight this off-season, and not good weight. He is listed at 240 but he really looks to be about 260, and his head hardly fits in his helmet. He needs to drop some lbs because he has lost a decent amount of agility/quickness.

You don't really need the word "looking" here. He just is a scary dude. The guy belongs in jail, not getting paid millions to play football.

Jerry jones needs to pull his head out of his ass and realize some of his players are the epitomes of "locker room cancer". Loud-mouth overpaid primadonna criminals that really dont care for winning a championship and it is no wonder the cowboys continue to lose year after year. The leagues just becomming more and more dull each year. Its fantasty stats and shitty overhyped big-market primetime games where its either a blowout or a shitshow all around. Last night was somewhat entertaining but some of these other games are a waste of time.

Idk, im just salty my teams imploding entirely again and just get tired of the leagues bullshit.

Losing is all he deserves for backing Goodell in Deflategate just because he wanted Brady's suspension upheld so his Cowboys wouldn't have to face him. Can't say I expect a scumbag like that to do anything different than hire should-be felons.

It's so hard to be a cowboy fan the way Jerry is running shit. It also doesn't seem fair guys like Greg are allowed to share locker rooms with people like Jason Witten. Hardy is an animal on the field but even more of one off. Jerry needs to get rid of that piece of shit.

this season is hilariously awful and great at the same time. No more dipshit GM, Martha Ford being a bad bitch and firing all the incompetent personnel her husband hired, Rustling the jimmies of division rivals, awfully atrocious football, ect. It really has it all this year.

Oh man so many instances where I was ready to turn the game off and go do homework. I had my fucking finger on the power button when Crosby lined up for that kick and immediately started running through my house screaming. What a fun day.

Wow. What a truly inspirational display from the Patriots. No O line, no Jamie Collins, No Dion Lewis, Edelman gets hurt early, Goodell making multiple game changing calls for the Giants. McDaniels doesn't care, Patricia doesn't care, Kraft doesn't care, Belichick doesn't care, Brady doesn't care. The whole world against them, the underdogs, the feel good story of the season. To stand up, stick your chin out, puff up your chest, stare into the very face of oblivion, and still somehow come out the other side victorious. What a win for New England, what a win for the Patriots, what a win for Democracy, what a win for Justice, what a win for Freedom, what a win for America.

And huge shout out to the officials for having the courage to stand up to Goodell's tyranny and not give in to his desire for that last ODB touchdown to be given. I hope to God those officials go into hiding so Goodell cannot find and murder them for defying his wishes and overturning the call. If they are assassinated, which I don't think would be a surprise to anyone if it were to happen, well, we will know the true story.

Make no mistake about it, the Patriots stole this game from the Giants. Brady played pedestrian and nearly threw the game away with 1:40 to go on an atrocious underthrow to Aaron Dobson of all people. I have been riding Malcolm Butler hard. He has not lived up the hype, but played his ass off and roughed up ODB (excluding that first TD, Eli threw ODB open and McCourty blew the angle). The Patriots did not deserve the win, both teams squandered opportunities, but by God am I relieved they won.

Also, PEYTON SUX AHAAHAHAHAAAHA

What? How did they not deserve to win? So many injuries on the o-line they basically played Gronk and Chandler as O linemen at times, Collins out, Lewis out, Edelman goes down early. Still found a way to get past it all and win. One bad Brady throw means the Patriots don't deserve to win? That's insane.

It was a close game, and the Patriots came out on top because they played big when it counted most, and the Giants didn't. Made the stand to hold the Giants to a field goal instead of a touchdown, then ran a good two minute drill to get into field goal range. Absolutely ridiculous to say the Pats stole the game and didn't deserve a win.

Listen man, I'm a patriots fan. I've been to dozens of games. I sat front and center for last years AFC championship.

They flat out played a horrible game. The offensive line played horrible. The passing game had no rhythm. Brady threw a TERRIBLE pass on the goal line, behind LaFell, that could've put the game away. He then threw a TERRIBLE pass, under thrown by 5 yards to a #5 WR, and was bailed out with a drop. I'm sorry, but this was the Giants beating themselves. They managed the clock incredibly poorly. They could have run the ball twice with 1st & goal, forcing the Patriots to call two timeouts and burn clock. Malcolm Butler singlehandedly bailed this team out on one play. If you haven't figured it out by now, the Patriots (statically a good defense) are front-running. Logan Ryan, Rashaan Melvin, and Coleman could not cover my grand mother tonight. The world isn't all dandelions and unicorns, the Patriots stole this game and hardly deserved a win. Thank god they did, but it was not as well played a game as your are leading on. The Giants are missing plenty of players as well, including their #1 wide out.

For fucks sake, maybe listening to the Sports Hub all day has made me resent 95% of the Patriots fan-base, myself excluded. Try looking at a game objectively for me one time. They stole this one. But hey, they're still undefeated.

I'm sure you feel the exact opposite as me, but I cannot watch Seattle lose enough. No disrespect pointed as you intentionally, just my personal feelings. All of the felatiating of the Seattle defense by the Big Leader, and Collinsworth on this broadcast, has driven me to the point of no return. Love me some Bobby Wagner, would I love to see him with Pat Patriot on the side of his helmet, but I've had enough.

Haha, if I list all the Pats games I've been to and it turns out its more than you, does that mean I'm a better fan and my opinion is more valid than yours? Because I can totally do that if you'd like.

I don't recall saying I thought they played a great game, because they didn't. I said they played big when it counted most, and the Giants didn't.

Yeah, the o-line was horrible, but I think that's mostly because they barely have enough healthy offensive lineman left healthy to field one. Look how often they used either Gronk or Chandler on the line blocking instead of running routes. And, again, no Lewis or Edelman for Brady, either. Blount is good at what he does, but pretty clearly not the pass catching back Lewis is, and, well, Edelman is Edelman. Yeah, the Pats struggled offensively, but I don't think that's much of a surprise considering how the injuries are piling up. And yeah, of course the Pats secondary sucks at times, they're atrocious at preventing big plays, more often than not letting teams convert on 3rd and longs. They love letting teams march down the field into scoring position then finally deciding to play and making stops in the red zone or field goal range. Bend but don't break defense.

I guess what I saw was the Giants also getting lucky earlier in the game. The ODB touchdown was pretty flukey, and then that pass interference call on Butler that Goodell phoned in when ODB slipped before Butler barely touched him certainly helped the Giants on their way to more points in the first half.

Yes, Tom made two really bad throws, but those were, what, the second and third really bad throws he's made all season? To me, that's the Giants getting some good luck and the Patriots beating themselves just as much as the Giants mismanaging the clock and dropping picks is the Giants beating themselves.

I dunno. I guess I thought it was a pretty close game throughout with, neither team ever really looking dominant over the other, that the Pats managed to come out on top of. Did they play a particularly good game? Of course not. Did they get some good luck? Yes. Did they deserve to win? Well, I thought so. At the very least, they deserved a win just as much as the Giants did.

And as I've said before, I feel entitled to be as much of an asshole as I want this season after deflategate and all that bullshit, so don't get too hung up on the stuff I'm saying.

.

I'm trying to articulate that I spend my hard earned money to watch and cheer for the Patriots, and not the New York Giants, so don't get it twisted you fucking asshole. That said, I am a fan of the league in general, so I can look at these games objectively.

1. The ODB touchdown was not fluky. McCourty took a horrible angle and blew it. Hold players accountable for their mistakes, please.

2. They have the ability to game plan around the offensive line. Bolden and White were held in to chip DEs & LBs instead of running routes. Gronk & Chandler spent time running timing routes, block then release. Michael Williams is an extra tackle every time he is on the field. The fact of the matter is Brady got spooked, held onto the ball too long, and stepped into pressure on many of his hurries. He also did not protect that ball.

3. I'm sorry, but the defensive backfield cannot do anything right. They can't play man, because players like Logan Ryan and Rashaan Melvin get toasted. They can't play soft zone or they'll get shredded. The only DB that came to play last night was Malcolm Butler, and it's about fucking time. 9 games in.

4. Brady's decision-making was poor and he has made more than "two or three" bad throws all season. You cannot throw that ball on the goal line where he did. That needs to be a bullet to the lead hip of LaFell, he threw it two steps behind. I'm sorry, but that mistake was inexcusable. The incompletion to Dobson was an even poorer decision. He waited for the route to develop, was pressured, and under-threw the ball. Throw it away and we live to die another day. HE got lucky, the Giants did not get lucky. The Giants dialed up the blitz and got to him, like any team is supposed to do.

5. The singlest best thing the Patriots did all night was that final defensive stand, articulated entirely by BB and executed entirely by Butler. Pats send out the goal line package with 1st and goal from 6, forcing Eli to kill a run play and check to pass. Butler makes an exceptional play to force an incompletion (though I don't know what a catch is anymore). Second down, Manning is forced to basically throw the ball away. Belichick forced the Giants hand, played the clock well, and aggressively used his time outs. it was genius.

6. The Patriots offense was anemic. Couldn't capitalize on a strip-sack (Chandler Jones is quietly becoming a Defensive MVP Candidate), benefited from an exceptional return by Amendola, and had no rhythm.

If you are comfortable beating a 5-4 NFC East team by 1 point, then good for you. I am happy with the win, but not happy with the effort. You simply cannot leave the game in the hands of kickers.

You are not entitled to be an asshole. We did it! Jimmy Hotfingers has been sticking needles in footballs for years. The only injustices done to the team were the severity of the punishment and the be-smudging of Brady's reputation. He is always and will forever be the greatest quarterback to ever live, but make no mistake about it, the Patriots did it.

I'm okay with the pats playing a shitty game and losing at some point this season, but thank fucking god it wasn't against the giants

Fact. Everyone is obsessed with 19-0. Hell, I would rather the Pats blow a game and go 18-1 if it means they win the SB. A loss sometimes can add fuel to the fire.

I would LOVE to see this team go 19-0 after the off-season they had. I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment that losing a game would benefit them in the long-run. I think Tom Brady & BB gained invaluable experience in 2007 & 2011; they know how to handle themselves in the playoffs and how to keep a team of inexperienced players focused, now. They did not play well last night. They got behind, their defense got exposed, Brady got the pass rush stuffed down his schmenzer. They faced a great deal of adversity to win this game and that should benefit them immensely.

As almost necessary a loss is I really want to see 19-0. We came so fucking close last time and some would argue luck played an immense part (Eli somehow avoiding an almost certain sack and then that goddamn helmet catch) to contributing to our downfall. This is the Pats chance to give a big fuck you to Goodell and all the owners that live to hate the team.

As for radio, local yeah theyre on the Pats side, but media in general is usually anti-Patriots. Every team cheats, but to me the biggest deals are made out of the Patriots. Shit didn't the Colts just get caught AGAIN pumping in crowd noise? How did that get swept under the rug? (I think it was the Colts, it was one of the teams the Pats played this year)

I think the way Bellicheck treats the media during press-conferences/interviews also makes the Pats an easy target for reporters. "Bellicheck gave me a rude one word answer to a question he gets asked literally every sunday for the past decade or so. He is obviously hiding something without a doubt."

also how does everyone feel about Cam Newton? I guess the titans didn't like him excessively celebrating this past weekend but he kinda has a point about them allowing him to score. Don't like cellys? Don't let me pick your shitty defense apart.

as a carolina fan i dislike cam's celebrations. he's always doing some goofy first down signal, or that superman crap where he pretends to tear off his jersey. he celebrates too often, usually things that don't really need celebrating. all while grinning with those big ol teeth of his.

lol about the butthurt packers fan calling the cops on him last week for taking their dumb cheesehead flag
