Every year is the year for one hit wonder rap music. That's just how the game go.

Yeah, that trend encompasses the music industry as a whole, but it seems like there were more this year

Rae Sremmurd are killing it actually.

I don't know how because pretty much all of their songs are like listening to a 10 year old girl trying to speak while crying a lot.

Ehhh... sort of. A couple holes here...

-Tuesday isn't really a rap song.

-Bobby Shmurda may (or may not) have a decent career ahead of him.

-And IDFWU is by Big Sean and E-40...who are already successful rappers.

That being said, these one hit wonder rap songs come out every year, but it does seem like they're starting to pop up more and more.

This was the year for OP to listen to shitty music and post about it.

Hip hop is dead.

New rap is LOLLERBLADES

Oh please, every genre has its garbage. Don't judge hip hop off Big sean, Tyga, or whoever else just released a hot club song.

There are plenty of hip hop artists who have released great music in the past few years. Freddie Gibbs, Vince staples, Flying Lotus (not really hip hop, but related), Run the Jewels, Pusha T, DJ rashad, Earl Sweatshirt, Chance the rapper, Danny brown, El-P, Killer Mike, Action Bronson and Death Grips.

Even the most mainstream rap artists have released solid albums. Kanye West, ASAP rocky, Drake, Schoolboy Q, and Kendrick have released albums that have had both incredible mainstream appeal and (generally) forward thinking lyrics and production.

Glad you could steal this title from Complex or whatever shitty hypebeast magazine wrote it

Yeah I know I borrowed it, shame on me for thinking it was an interesting conversation topic.

In the past year, Action Bronson is the only person that has put out "old-school" rap that i actually like.

Schoolboy Q is one of the worst at the moment IMO. Have you heard his 5 fingers of death on Sway? One of the weakest freestyles i have ever heard.

However, i can't get enough of RG and young thug; a lot of people really hate on them so i guess its each to their own.

RAP MUSIC, SERIOUS BUSINESS

Not a fan of Joey Bada$$ or any of the pro-era crew?

I listen too rap constantly and I barley recognize those songs. I think it´s been a pretty good year for rapmusic. Run The Jewels dropped RTJ2, witch is the sickest shit ever. Cunninlynguists dropped a solid projekt. Sage Francis made a great album. Apathy of Army of the Pharaohs put out a pretty dope album. Sadistik's new album was pretty good. Death Grips are getting back together (if they ever really spit up) and I liked Schoolboy Q's album a lot more than I thought I would. Clipping dropped a nice album too.

My point is that a lot of good rapmusic was dropped this year.
