2014 Skiing Superpipe Olympics?

Personally I would rather not see Superpipe as an Olympic sport, right now it is progressing so fast, all the Olympics would do is freeze the sport and make it as boring to watch as moguls. Next thing we know our sport will have no originality and we'll all have to find something else to do.
Case and point: skier-x with downhill suits and racers = LAME

Now would be the time to start discussing it regardless. Events are finalized within two years of the start of the Games, I believe.

i love modern skiing and we need to keep our originality but saying that Olympic racing is ghey is a bit too far..... it takes alot of raw skiing skills and not to mention balls so ski gates at 8omph on pure ice.....

it will definately happens, we proved that we can be as impressive, if not more, than snowboarders. I have absolutely no doubt that the right persons will make sure that it happens.

don't hate on sxi do agree that it is moving away from its roots and more towards fruit suit racing, but its still a sick sport.being added to the olympic schedule IMO hasn't done too much to the sport in the usa who is behind the world in skiercross
i think that adding pipe to the olympics would be bad, because unlike sx it is judged. I do agree that because of the judging that the sport would become stale.

not a chance, the Olympics is slowly trying to phase out judged events and i doubt they will be adding more anytime soon.

well not really phase out but because of unfair judging I don't think that the chances of adding an event like skiing are very likely.

Either way, if people want this to happen, it needs to start now. You're going to want to have some sort of presence in Vancouver, drumming up support for the idea. A website would have to be built for the proposal. Letters would have to be drafted. The entire international skiing community has to be onboard with the plan. And of course, proponents of the proposal will have to have regular communication with the IOC and the USOC. I think it could happen, given the development of the sport in the past years and especially after this year's X. But it's going to take serious commitment. I think that really, if the movement doesn't start now, it will never really get going with enough power for the IOC to even consider it. I think there's really a six- to nine-month window; after which no proposal, even a strong one, would stand a chance.

Actually a couple months ago I think FIS released a statement saying that chances of Skiing Half Pipe being in the Olympics was fairly likely. I should have the Email somewhere.

What the hell are you talking about, did you not see snowboard pipe at XGames? They are an Olympic sport, and it's far from "frozen" or boring to watch. They are progressing faster than ever.

yeah, its not like white was the first person to do 2 dub corks and a dub. mctwist in a pipe, and danny davis never landed 3 dubles in one run in olympic year

still, dont believe it will happen since,as jossi wells said, shaun white is not a skier

You really do not understand how much exposure and money the Olympics would bring to our sport. Also think about the athletes, I can almost assure that anyone of those guys would kill to represent their country in the Olympics and have a chance to win a medal.
I don't get why you (and others) care so much about if skiing goes "main stream" or not. You should do it because you enjoy it, not because its underground or whatever.

i dont understand the reasoning behind the thought that the olypmics will make skiing boring, its will be nearly the same lineup as the xgames, how would the fact that they are in the olympics stop progression?
