2014/2015 gear thread

Skis with 3D shovels and shit are typically above the contact points, so it's a not issue. It would eliminate any likelihood of hooking, especially with it in the tails

nope. Magnum Opus is something else entirely. This is supposedly part of a whole new line of skis, but it does look similar to a lot of the skis that pollard has designed over the past few years.

You sure?

haha yes thank you. btw..whats with all these companies going back to the super fat sticks? powabunga, magnum opus. it seemed like a trend for a bit there was the pow skis were slowly going down in waist widths.

I think its because they've learnt over the years that when they first started they were pretty much putting 2 snowboards on peoples feet that it was just stupid and way to much effort to move the suckers around and then they drastically cut them down and they weren't getting enough float and now with all the different types of "rocker" that everyone has been experimenting with and now they've learnt to add just the right amount of width to get the best floatation in the deeeep pow.

Its just progression and better understand of ski's and the technology.

This. There are so many factors that go into how a ski or snowboard performs. It's my just width. It's length, contact surface, edge radius, camber/rocker profile. A little tweak on each thing can make the ski or board ride so much different. And no one combination of them is right for everyone. I love all the experimentations.

that sounds interesting. That review was super enthusiastic, but ive never been much of a fan of playfull freeride skis. I guess ill have to try them out

Just get Pandora's then. 172 is hardly long for you, and the lizzie was not a big beefy ski either...

This was posted a while back with the other ski, but does anyone else find it funny that b-dog doesn't even ride his pro model ski? I haven't seen him ride the halo since they "remodeled" it.

Yeah, i thought that was interesting how he and Hornbeck were made to seem like the Halo2 riders by Armada, and then he ended up skiing on the Al dented for pretty much the whole season, but Im pretty sure now that he has his name on it, hell be on them for the majority of the season.

So there's still a cap construction and an extruded base but they are lighter, wider, rockered, probably directional . Are there more changes?Very interested in this ski for the next season.

I didn't think there was anything in it worth posting besides the Pollard M2. There is the MIG, but that's pretty meh, and the WM1 but besides that everything else is the same as this year pretty much. Some decent helmets.
