2013 Sammy Carlson Invitational

and seriously, make the announcer meet the riders in person. Its not all about torin and edollo, and hes fucked up like a dozen people so far...

like seriously, everyone who organized this event must have been shithoused the entire time. Good skiing, good course, but the way you guys covered this was seriously fucking pathetic and made it a waste of time to watch. im done watching it and theres my opinion on your contest APO

In any given production there are compromises. The most basic choice you must make when organizing any kind of shoot is what takes priority, the athletes or the production? Most productions, whether the X Games or a level 1 park, choose the production. In other words, athletes seldom get to ride an amazing feature the way they want to. When we started planning the broadcast, we made the decision that the production should come second to the athletes. It was all about how they wanted to session the features. Unlike most events, we wouldn't stop them from dropping when they wanted to, make them wear bibs or even stop them long enough to make sure the graphics guy could pull up the right name. We may have erred too much on the side of creating a great rider experience. But I do know this, if we would have made sure all the graphics were perfect and the cameras were always in position, which would have been much easier on the crew and allowed us to actually be drunk, it would have interfered with the athletes and in turn been just another event. The goal was to create the best possible experience for the athletes which we thought would inspire the best riding. Its a rare opportunity to get to see that live, and we thought it would be worth seeing. Its not the X Games and that's the point. There are already enough of those events. Our choices may have lead to a number of mistakes, but for the opportunity to see something live that almost never happens, I think it was well worth it. I respect you may disagree. But the athletes had an amazing fun session today and that mattered most today. If you know a better way to do it within the limits we face to ensure we capture such a rare experience, I'm completely open to suggestions.

Really liked it. Some ideas:- have a homepage like "scinvitational.com".. the FB homepage didn't even have the livestream or a link to it.. I ended up on freeskier after googling it

- show timetable, riders, categories and winners on the page.

- run a delayed stream on a separate page so if you miss something you can see it on the delayed stream. (have a clock that can be hidden both on the normal and delayed stream)

- make sure someone gets THall to throw it down harder.. maybe I missed something but he was holding back at this and his own invitational.

- have a FPV (first person view) camera that riders can pass around that's on wireless

- have a download link available when finished, which is just a stream rip.

I haven't yet seen any video/photos/anything from this comp (exept for the picture of Phil on Facebook) and I feel a bit disappointed. I'm really hoping that there will be some videos of this comp..

Whats up with all the hate on rad events lately? First wcs now sci, these are the type of events that should define competition freeskiing, they reward fun and creativity and promote jam/film formats. Maybe everything isn't 100 percent dialed in but they are on their way to being reallllly sick! On another note, Hooood Crew taking over!!!

I thought the event was sick. So what if a couple names were missed for a second and the camera man missed a couple shots. The ability to watch this event live was awesome. Several years ago all we would get would be a brief news article and maybe a highlight reel a couple day later. The live broadcasting should really be appreciated. Also, LVV had me laughing a good chunk of the time, best commentator there is. "(Accidently says something completely incoherent and realizes it) well folks if you understood that, you must be some sort of scientist"

WAT? SCI was sick, the wall ride was one of the biggest features I've ever seen and everyone was throwing down. can't wait for next year
