2013 Dalbello Il Moro "T" Adjustments

Hey guys, so recently I just picked up a pair of 2013 Il Moro T's on the cheap and I've gotta say, I love the fit and functionality of these boots. I also have a pair of FT Sethmo's and they're great, but my toes were getting seriously scrunched at the bottom, and I'd blown a buckle and it's looking to happen more. I went up a size in the Dalbellos, but man they fit fantastic so far. However I am wanting to do some adjustments, as after the first couple times using them I've got some shinbang, and my foot got burnt out fairly quick. I've already heat molded the intuition liners which helped quite a bit, but I'm wondering how to adjust them for a little less forward lean, and how to adjust flex. I know you can swap tongues, but didnt know if there was any integral flex adjust system besides the slap ratchet buckle. Also, I was not given the manual with these things, so any other adjustability options that may be helpful to know about would be great. I'd go to a bootfitter, but seeing as I live in Iowa the pickins are pretty slim. Plus, I like to tinker with equipment until it feels right anyway, so figure I may as well do it myself. Thanks guys!

Inb4 go get fitted, I was fitted previously, and those boots are swell, I just got a good backup pair for cheap that I'm trying to optimize.

1. Do you have custom footbeds?

2. Take your liner out of the shell, put your foot (with ski sock on) in the shell, slide your foot to the front of the shell, and tell us how much space is behind your heel. Is it 1cm, 2cm, or 3cm?

In a perfectly fitting boot, you will not get shinbang. My hunch is that by upsizing you are now in a shell that is too big for you, and if you don't have footbeds then you are only compounding the problem.

I do not have custom footbeds, nor do I have anywhere to go about getting them currently. However I'm taking a trip to Jackson Hole in March, at which point I'll definitely get fitted for some. Also, currently not at home with the ability to check the boots, on campus. However I'll check that out when I am home. If the case is that the shell is too big I'll just re-sell them haha. I wish I was able to move the liner to my tilts, as it has kept my foot far warmer and for some reason feels way more comfortable.

Thanks for the quick response by the way! I knew I was taking a shot in the dark with them, but at the price I snagged em for I figured it was worth a shot haha. I dropped a decent amount on rental boots when I was unable to get my Tilts fixed on my previous trip, so figured I may as well get a backup pair of boots, but I'll just look at getting a same size pair of Tilt's if I get rid of these. I just love the Dalbello's buckle system hahaha, will be sad if I cant make it work.

Also, I should add that for charging and regular skiing my foot feels fine, I get no shin bang and I actually feel more stable than when on my full tilts. The shin bang has been arising as I've been skiing more park/urban stuff as of late, with no real access to decent mountain skiing. which could very likely be due to some serious flat landings/backseat landings off a pretty piss poor built jump haha. We adjusted it today, but soreness was already set in by that point.

Also, I know the shin bang could have possibly come from a pretty piss poor constructed jump we were using for urban. A lot of super harsh flat landings that left me with a backseat landing. We adjusted it today and it was better, but the damage was done. On standard skiing I felt actually more stable with these boots than my FT's, like I could really push the crap out of em, but I do like the more upright stance I've got with my FT's atm, but didnt know how to adjust that on these. Figured I'd try that before selling em off haha. Also, without another tongue is the flex adjustment based on just how you set the slap ratchet buckle?

Didnt mean to triple post there, my computer was screwing up. However just measured, its about 2.1mm from my heel to the back of the boot.

No worries- it was probably just your icon giving you a seizure.

With 2.1cm you are probably in the right length shell at least. But not having a supportive footbed will for sure be a major contributing factor to your shinbang.

We've covered this topic a lot in the boot-fit problems thread:

When you are able to get to a proper fitter, have him re-check the shell fit for length, width, and general volume and make sure you get a supportive footbed.
