2013-2014 gear

Apparently the toes are on a plate and you can just slip out the plates and swap them.

Ha I guess so. I though you could with the pivot heel and dyna toe as a downhill/uphill singular system, and no swap. Still a pretty good setup though. I do also like to hear that, makes me feel like the new Dynafit 16 DIN binding will still be a huge breakthrough pending it works well and releases as advertised.

The first model is going to be expensive because everything is new. Molds, machining, parts, etc. Once a season of production is under their feet, the price is likely to fall a bit, and they may release a heavier/cheaper model with cheaper materials (steel/aluminum instead of carbon/titanium).

Rumor has it the cool new toe piece will also carry over into some of the lower din options, which is really what I want. I don't ever ride with a DIN past 12, and touring I never ride much past 8. A 12 din dynafit feels fine for me 99% of the time, but I would love a better toe piece.

Saw all 2014 volkl and marker today. The griffon is getting a whole re-vamp, design wise. it will be the exact same shape as the jester, but still the lower 4-13 DIN range. The Wall has an all orange topsheet. the Jester Pro is blue and orange.

While your touring it will weigh about one third of what an mfd weighs, and you won't have to pick up an insane amount of weight with each step. That's part of what makes the dynafit so cool, your only lifting the weight of your boot, and the pivot point is 10x better than any other option. With the duke, guardian, and mfd you have to make compromises for the up and down. With the dynafit you have to make compromises for the down. For someone who is truly looking for the ultimate in performance and is willing to make no compromises this is the only option. The only downside is you have to swap the toes, but I've heard it takes about the same time as it takes to switch a duke into ski mode. Maybe the 16 din dynafit will answer all of these problems, but next year it will only be compatible with next years line on dynafit boots, and it will be 1000 dollars. I also don't believe it will ski as well as an 18 din fks. For 300 dollars (same price as an mfd) I can turn my fks's into a badass touring binding. If I mount the setup with quiver killers I can swap them just as easily as the mfd. It's superior to the mfd in every way. That is all.

But I'm still confused as to how the hiking up or skinning it would be with a heel piece that doesn't allow touring? I mean what would be the whole point of having a AT toe piece if you aren't touring? I mean the whole reason why dynafit is so useful is because it can enable you to hike up. Can someone explain to me why you would want a traditional alpine binding heel piece and then swap out toe pieces? I know din is a huge factor but it still isn't clicking.

On the way up you slide in the dynafit toe which will sit further forward than the alpine toe so you can walk without having a heel piece in the way. this is lighter, and allows for a much more natural stride than mfd, duke, guardian, fritschi bindings. once on top you slide your regular alpine toes back in and ski down on a more durable and reliable alpine with a lower stack height than the previously mentioned touring bindings.

hope that makes sense.

ya, there are climbing bails built into the plate. the fks heel is only there for the down. the dynafit toe is only there for the up. FKS for skiing, Dynafit for touring. fuckin sick.

The pivot point on a binding like the duke/guardian/etc. is shit for a natural stride. Pulling the pivot point to the toe of the boot is more natural.

Also there is the consideration of NOT wanting the heelpiece attached to you're boot when you a are skinning up as it serves no purpose for ascending. It's extra moving weight that you don't want.

This system gives the user to have a traditional high din alpine binding with a low stack height for the way down, with the smooth touring capability going up. It is a niche product, but on that the designers clearly feel there is a market for.

I saw a vid where the guy claimed the beast will come with a conversion kit that makes every dynafit model, except the tl5,fit.

new pipe cleaners are dope, is that a half pipe in the graphic?

Also, New Ski from line called the Future Spin. I dont know anything about it but it could be the traveling circus (anthem) with early rise like this years chronic...

I hate how they switched their logo back... Looks so ugly IMO. The other on looked nice and clean, looked sort of like the NS logo. It was nice.

Did you get El Gato's permission to post this? I wouldn't want him to freak out when his Line overlords, who can't control their content that gets on the net, crack the whip on him.

It's replacing the Mastermind. From what I've heard they're stiffer than the TC, cap/sidewall/cap like the chronic, full camber, really light.

Line overlords here .. Ape Man says it's cool to stay .. we're stoked on our streetwear line coming out for sure.

Not new? that's like their third year with the mutant. They made a ski 2 years ago called the BFF that was 200 at the waist.

now I've just clocked why.. Red Bull Line Catcher is from 12-19th of Jan there this week. Getting over there on my day off for sure.

Seems like you may have actually seen pollard with them over there. I wouldn't be surprised if he is on the list

sorry to tell you that isn't new lethal stuff, it's the wolfgang puck jacket and red pants from the current line.
