Really, the ski market is all fucked up these days.

Making low grade skis so everyone can use them, but still require too much skill so its not for everyone anyway.

Another Candide model?

Probably utililizing their new core, the Candide 3.0 has it and is basically a 3.Zero only with that D120 recycled P.E.T core and flax fibres making them 800gr's lighter per pair.
 
Germany is good at designing and engineering things; China is good at manufacturing things. Deal with it.
 
oh god ... the armada logo on the ski was made ... maybe ... with a font on Dafont.com. I got the same font on gimp ...

 
It's a way too vibrant camo, it needs to be more subdued to go well with any color but black, and possibly tan. Like the Wiley coat, only in vest form.
 
Bah, nevermind on the heel lift, I see it now. I wonder how these puppies will release when used with the Dyna toe and Pivot heel.
 
How are they working with FT's in that pic?

Do the boots have a plate drilled on or something?
 
Whoops, not my pic, stole it from looking at the cast bindings pages. In assuming there would be a tech insert embedded into the removable sole of the FT?
 
I applaud the Green Mountain a freeride guys for their desire to search out a fix for a design flaw as they saw it. However, looking at that picture one must realize that you've gotta have $400 invested in the FKS's, another $500 in the Dynafits, and then whatever their going to charge for their SI&I bindings - all for the ability to charge both uphill and downhill. Well, I am not applauding that. Seems insane to invest all that coin for minimal benefits. Maybe I shouldn't say antythimg since I've obviously never tried them. Nevertheless...
 
Ha, I haven't either, and I share your same cost concerns. By the time you've made that investment it may have been cheaper or costing a similar price for Dynafit's new 16 din freeride binding. You apparently won't specifically need FKS though, I read something about a possible compatibility with any binding heel piece.

I'm also semi concerned about the release properties of these bindings, I guess it's something that we will have to wait and see on.
 
You can buy just the Dynafit toe pieces for $160 a pair from Spark R&D in Bozeman, MT.

Also... you are right, its an expensive solution that solves a few problems... but its a great attempt...

I am currently working on something similar, that seeks to solve the universal binding compatibility issue as well as a cheaper uphill alternative that allows any boot.

You should hopefully see something on the TGR tech talk forums about it by May.
 
They are looking at selling the plates and the dynafit toe for 300. They will most likely offer plate systems for any of the major binding companies, so you don't have to rock a fks if you don't want to. They have developed a system so that you can retrofit any boot with the tech inserts for the toe, I've heard it's a super simple process. The way the system works is you tour up with the dynafit toe, then you swap it out with the fks toe using a simple locking mechanism. I talked to a guy who has a pair, he says that it takes about the same time as a duke to switch over. I think it's the answer, light weight tour for the up, bomber binding for the down. We'll see what the final product looks like, but these guys are thinking outside the box and coming up with real innovation compared to the ancient designs every other company is trying to tweak year after year.
 
So you have a pair of toe pieces in your backpack all the time.. I guess its pretty light, prob lighter than MFD's, but those work so nice and worth the little bit of extra weight..

+ you can swap MFD's between different skis with the switch plates..

Nice attempt, great to see people try to inovate but this still has some downsides..
