2013-2014 gear

i heard the s7 is gone and the super 7 is now s7. squad 7 is getting a little brother. s3 is gone and being replaced with something 98 underfoot
 
From the looks of things there are three models each with a color. The Squad7 is black with blue tip/tails. The Super7 is black with orange tip/tails. And the Soul7 is black with yellow tip/tails. Lastly, it seems as if they've all been redesigned to incorporate the weight saving tech, but the Soul7 specifically is a new mold for them at 106mm underfoot.
 
Basically the S line is going to match up directly to models in Salomon's Rocker 2 line. Except that new ski Kye has been on will match the 122 instead of the squad 7. Also, pretty sure everyone already knows this, but Rossi/Look is rebranding the Salomon Guardian. Overall, I'm super impressed with Rossi, seems like they FINALLY listened and stepped up their game.
 
Okok, It's the FTW in Revy and there's a lot of next year ski around, I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow

Don't have a pic but K2 rep came by the ski store I work in the other day with K2 goggles. They look very crowbar-esque but with more straight lines and sharper angles and less curves. Also have ridiculously awesome Carl Zeiss lenses.

Blows other gogs out of the water.
 
It would appear so. Was under the impression that rep said they were coming out in 2014-2015. He was probably talking about the super thin and super warm Gore-tex jacket that he was wearing as a result of the recent partnership between Gore-tex and K2
 
anyone else feel that this technology is just a big bag of a bullshit to sell a ski with air in its core? I mean yeah it'll be a super light ski but who wants to take a ski with air in it to go backcountry or sidecountry?

 
Well you do want a super light ski for the back country... But yeah it does look gimmicky. But there's so many other options for that style of ski that I don't really care what tweaks they make, i still probably won't end up buying it.
 
I may have a few details mixed up, but Rossi was sold to Quiksilver for the better part of a quadrillion dollars. Then Quiksilver ceases to innovate anything at all, and as a company essentially goes bankrupted. Rossi then sees an opportunity to buy their own company back at a fraction of what they sold it for - and they did. This must be a sign of innovative things to come from Rossi. I for one am optimistic of a lightweight, smaller S7 for ski touring. The only thing I don't like is the rebranded Guardian binding. That's total horse isht.
 
I was hoping for an integrated fks style touring binding, yeah you have MFD's, but it would be awesome for Rossi to do that.
 
even cooler, Dynafit is coming out with a 16din binding next season. It has a new heel design with forward pressure and a lateral mechanism like the older Tyrolia pivot heel.

The toe piece is also din controlled now, with a pivoty function that puts the pins forward of the boot instead of underneath... sort of.

Also? retail price of around $1000... But rumor has it the new toe piece will trickle down into the lighter bindings as well, so you don't have to lock your toes.

I'm pumped about the ski formally know as the Anthem having some early rise according to rumors. That's the exact ski I've been waiting years for. Only bummer is it's got the TC graphic.

Line, can we market some pure park skis to skiers who are older then 16 please? Not really excited to cruise the park on Traveling Circus branded skis. How about some Pollard limited edition top sheets again??? or maybe bringing back the ANTHEM with the 80s and retro themes again?
 
what do you mean by over 16? (I'm over 16) just wondering, I don't fell like someone over 16 couldn't use tc graphics, just as I don't feel why rasta colourway should disappear from skiing (like so else above)
 
The Anthem or TC ski is my favorite park ski from Line ever. Perfect dimensions and design and the rumored early rise will make them even better. The first four graphics were some of their best of all time, but the whole Traveling Circus top sheet is childish don't you think? That's what I'm referring to by over 16. Even the afterbang graphics are a little juvenile.

I know graphics don't matter and wouldn't stop me from buying the ski. I'd cover it with stickers or even paint them. Seriously, who over 16 would want to cruise around with Traveling Circus logos on their skis. I love the Traveling Circus, I think it saved the ski communities soul and every one riding for line since then is taking skiing in the right direction, but come on, do we really need to brand one of the great legendary skis from Line as the Traveling Circus skis? If they'd just put a rad graphic on there they'd sell ten times more. I haven't seen one kid skiing the TC ski. When it was the Anthem, you saw them constantly. Sell the Anthem and let kids choose to put a TC sticker on them. Just my opinion.

I have ridden the TWO a couple times now and is is by far one of the best skis I have ever ridden. The way it felt to me was like the 10 EP Pro just stiffer, and able to handle more terrain.

Made in China

Was this really necessary on the new Volkls? If they're made in China, they're made in China; who cares where they were engineered. Too bad they aren't made in Germany.

 
Volkl is a German company which is why it's perfectly acceptable to claim they are engineered in Germany. I'm sure that during design and prototyping of new Volkl skis some degree of the test production etc is done in Germany but they outsource the entire process once they feel it is right to a company in China which can do the work for cheaper - just as 80% of other companies in the ski industry do. I think its great that Volkl advertise they are ENGINEERED in Germany but MADE in China, letting the end user know where their ski originated. Also - this isn't new as the same thing was on my Volkl wall 2010s

If they made their skis in Germany I would have more respect for Volkl. Yes, some things I own and purchase are made in China. The things I care about are not, they are made in the USA; skis, guitars, etc.

I wasn't aware they have been marking their skis with that ridiculous text in the past as well. Thanks for your opinion though.
 
Still not sure what Volkl thinks is so good about selling full rocker ski's to normal people.
 
That was not an opinion. It was a fact. That jacket was absolute shit and I know other people who have had the same issue with Patagonia gear. Yes their high end super expensive shit is good, but in general it is over priced.

True, but I assume they pay taxes and I'm jealous of their occupation. I just want more in life. Everything is a choice.
 
Trust me they sit in a saw dust filled warehouse with constant loud noise all day having to wear goggles, ear plugs, and masks.. It's not something to be jealous of
 
yeah true that... though I ride whatever gets under my feet for the cheapest and matches my size... got some 10/11 suspects (they're fucking shit and stiff), but they do their job and were really cheap and came with a binding, so I can't complain...

and what do you mean by taking skiing in the right direction? how could you go the wrong direction as long as you progressed?
