Newt Gingrich and Buddy Roemer both announced exploritory committees ( www.politico.com/2012-election ). Ron Paul also had a money bomb and is making some serious moves. Other obvious runners liek Pawlenty and Romney will likely jump in later in the month. Daniels, Trump and Barbour are still maybes. Who knows, maybe Huck and Palin will join the festivities in the summer as well. You American's love getting shit underway early eh? One year till the primaries and 20 months till the General. In Canada we have a budget vote March 22nd this year likely to fail and our election is 6 weeks later haha. Obama should win reelection anyway against the current front runners, or lack of. Unless the economy is terrible still or gas prices raise dramatically. Given the current field I think Mitt Romney has the best chance at winning the primary and of unseating Obama, but I still don't like his chances....

By the way, laugh my fucking ass off at "Buddy Roemer" running for president. A democrat congressman 30 years ago and a democrat govenor 20 years ago. After that a political failure, then a retirement from politics into BANKING. I thought this announcement was a joke at first. The republican primary is going to be laughable this year if Ron Paul doesn't bring the issues that matter to the table. Does anyone want a million to one odds on this character?

^^^^^During the primaries for the last election I remember getting made fun of in high school for wearing a Ron Paul t-shirt and putting his stickers everywhere. I'm so happy more people are jumping on his train now. Unfortunately I can't even vote for him in the primaries because I'm registered as a Libertarian in Pennsylvania and by PA laws I can't vote in the primaries unless I'm registered Democrat or Republican.... so retarded keeping our citizens from being able to voice our opinions.
 
Theres no way Obama is winning reelection. The trend is gonna be similar to that of the midterms last year. Republicans will most likely sweep the whole election cause theres no way the economy is gonna be fixed in 20 months and the public will place the blame on the deems for not being able to fix it.
 
Why Ron Paul will never win the Republican nomination. Because the majority of his support is from outside the GOP.
 
wow. i have to say that i really like Ron Paul's foreign policy a lot. i dont like much about his economic/domestic ideas, but what he said there about foreign wars is spot-on.

doesnt matter what republican gets nominated. anyone will be better than obama. the millions of blacks who registered to vote for the first time in their lives for obama wont give a fuck this time if they have enough intelligence to realize he did not help them at all or bring any "change" that he promised

Obama is incumbent, so it is very, very hard to beat him. He will pull out more wishy washy shit over the next year and a half.

I'm not voting for him. But of course there has to be a strong, viable opponent and campaign to even have a chance. There also has to be some cohesion. We lost a senate seat in Washington because after primaries, one douchebag couldn't support the other guy from the same party. That kind of internal struggle is poison.

Newt also has zero chance.

i have been anti-obama since day 1. i did not wait until "6 months in" to say he sucks. my vote was for mccain from the start and you are right that change happens one step at a time, but what steps has he taken? he has done very little since getting into office

Just saying. I'm not happy with some of the stuff Obama has done, but it's really pretty idiotic to say he hasn't done anything, even if you don't agree with what he's done.

I can't speak as much for a national level, although I know similar situations are happening in other states and to some extent at the national level. But in Montana, if things keep up the way they've been going, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Dems. have a good year in 2012. In MT, the GOP controlled Legislature has been getting a ton of attention for how crazy its been. The news has been really critical lately of how many frivolous and stupid bills there have been. The senior Republican leaders have been pretty critical as well. I think if it keeps up, the people will be pretty pissed with what happened this session, and I could see it working in the Dems favor.

You could say that, you could also call it the best healthcare reform in nearly 50 years. No president since Johnson has gotten any type of healthcare reform passed.
 
Disagreeing with the ideology behind it isn't the same as calling it the worst healthcare reform in decades. I mean, technically you could since its the only healthcare reform in decades, but I don't think that's what you meant.

I hope something is passed where I can opt out of this healthcare. It would be nice to opt out of SS too. One can dream....Although it won't be long before my dreams are taxed.
 
show me one president who had made good on all his campaign promises. you want to know why? they tell you what you WANT to hear, but when he becomes president, he realizes that certain things are not feasable. the worst thing we could do is pull out all our forces from iraq and afghanistan. you have no concept about this issue. and as for the trillions in debt, how about you check out what the bush administration did for our debt, ok? tell me when you do that because as far as i can tell, obama's administration is trying to create plans to decrease the debt (watch the news sometime, buddy) and to rid that god damned tax cut for the top %2 that bush put into place. problems are long standing in our government and they won't go away regardless if we have the first black (obama), woman (palin), or psychotic moron (ron paul) as president. all we can hope is that we get someone in there that's making moves toward something good and is not fucking things up worse than they are.
 
oh and for healthcare being unconstitutional because you have to have it... well yeah but that's not a bad thing. in what world is it beneficial to not have healthcare? all it did was create a more accessible form of healthcare to millions more people, you stupid fuck. the constitution was written hundreds of years ago, i bet you believe that the bible is a GREAT way to base your life off of also, huh?

If you knew Woozy at all, he hated Bush as well. Just because one bad president added to the debt doesn't mean that it is right for another bad president to do the same. As far as I can tell, you don't watch the news; rather, you watch televised propaganda. Obama isn't doing shit to improve the debt. In the last two years, the US has run its highest budget deficits in history. This trend shows no signs of stopping due to all of the entitlement programs.
If you knew anything about economics, the wealthiest 2% provide almost ALL of the jobs to the American public. If they are taxed to the point where they cannot invest in new capital, where will the jobs come from? And the Keynesian answer is.....suspense.....the government! Where productive capital goes to die.
