Just saw it yesterday, thought it was going to be a Day After Tomorrow copy with the whole end of the world thing. but it was actually reallly good with some SICK shots. i recommend you guys see it. whatd you guys think?
 
i enjoyed t. mainly because of the lead chick, amanda peet, one of the hottest chicks i have seen in a long time.l ong long long time. i highly recomend you go see it just for her.
 
Thats fucking cool. I love movies like that. It would be kinda cool if something like that really happened and I survived haha. Life would be so much different I love just massive destruction movies though, makes ya think
 
the shots look real nice in hd. but it seems like the entire thing is a classic hollywood destruction seen where the movie heros are constantly racing 1 foot ahead of explosions and the world collapsing on itself.
 
^ i do agree with that. they were always just escaping death and some of it was a little too close but it kept it pretty full of action.
besides that it was a very cool plot and i enjoyed the movie a lot
 
My teacher told me critics are just slamming it and giving it 1 star out of 5.

My main concern is that if so much money was spent on special effects, how much was spent on the plot?

I loved day after tomorrow so im for sure going to see this because it looks sick.
 
ahahaha it doesnt cost money to make a plot! you hire someone or you buy an idea.. weather the ideas are good or not, you pay the same price for labor.

I think its going to be an other steaming pile of shite because most movies which rely on CGI have weak plots and put too much emphasis on compositing rather than making an actual movie that communicates something to the audience. this is going to be transformers 2 all over again
 
I dont think anyone expects this movie to be legitimately good... Its just a piece of crap made to entertain people who like explosions.

Basically, if you thought transformers 2 was a good movie, you'd like this.
 
I won't bother wasting my time. Looks lame, too many people are saying it's lame, and the world won't end in 2012 so the whole thing is pointless. I mean shit, world's supposed to have ended like 4 times now, lets get real here.
 
its nothing more than your typical world ending, catastrophic, apocalyptic, blockbuster, hollywood movie with a shit ton of special effects and no plot whatsoever, besides of course the fact that the world is ending
 
that scene when LA was getting raped was completely and utterly epic. Me and my buddy were freaking out.
 
it looks soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad. Looks like a huge CGI expenditure to appease the short-attention span (ironically its relatively long), weak plot movie crowd that seem to be swooned by the high profile garbage that gets shitted out of hollywood.

after emmerichs last product, 10000bc, there was no way in hell i could let myself destroy my brain that bad by seeing such a shitty movie. I mean, 10000bc was SO SHITTY, the premise, and trailer, for 2012 are SO SHITTY, and it's emmerich playing on some contemporary y2k fear machine, that it just has to be clusterfuck of suck.

i'm usually the person that convinces my family to just get past the fact that say robots transform into cars, and once you get past that its a great movie.

but this one took it way to far, the plane scene flying out of LA. GET FUCKING REAL. looked soooo fucking fake and is such a load of bullshit.

would i recommend it? NO. just watch day after tomorrow again, you will get much more enjoyment.
 
didnt you guys know that this is a movie written by a guy who came back in time to save the human race. they're actually building ships right now in outer space.

nahh but seriously, this movie looks like a load of shit. i'd pretty much rather watch Pluto Nash
 
the part when they were in yellowstone or watever and the volcanos all became active and those meteors were everywhere that was some of the sickest special effects ever
 
yea, the more i think about the movie (just watched it earlier today) the more it just pisses me off.

I'm sick and tired of Hollywood making movies without giving a shit about the plot or anything. There are major holes all over the movie and non of it makes any sense. If you're high on mushrooms and aren't actually paying attention to the movie and just watching it for nothing but visual entertainment, sure... it could be good.

 
Ill admit some of the parts were a bit cheesy but the movie was amazingly filmed. The special effects were extremely realistic and some of th ways the showed the earth ended were undescribale. I defeintly suggest to see it, and you wont expect what they do at the end
 
I'm amazed nobody spoked about the "ships" wich saved americans was made in CHINA... Seriously, it takes a lot a balls to to make a plot where hundreds thousands of chineses construct something for the americans to be saved as they die.. ahah.

Oh and the "last" piece of earth that survives is, of course, Africa......

Oh haii and of couuurse the black US president who stays behind to help finding a lost child's father (like seriously??) and to be the last survivor in DC standing up surounding by dead people just to watch a freackin' boat crush him...

Ahhh anddd yeah the fact that it's a poor guy from India who discover that the wirld is ending...

annnnnnnnnnd I could go on and on and on... This film is one of the worst I ever watched. Everything, and by this I mean EVERYTHING is clichees and clichees and more clichees. It never ends. The film is way too long, the actors sucked, there was no plot, and the leading girl is ugly.

And I'll finish my rant by saying this: did they really put a car going through a crashing skyscraper? oO

 
pretty much hit the nail on the head there, but it was a good movie if you're in the mood for some very good effects and shit blowing up. other than that, don't get your hopes up.
 
that movie sucked dick. i wouldn't even see it again if someone paid me to. wasn't worth the 2 hours and 45 minutes it lasted.
 
i liked it but wish that whole american ship died would have made it much better. Plus at the end the guy and his son were under water for almost 5 minutes.
 
ya i agree they were underwater for a ridiculous amount of time....but it would have been stupid if everyone died
