2012 Line Step-Up: 176 or 181? +K for solid advice.

So for a little background, I'm 5'11 and 160 pounds. I'm heavy into the rail game, but lately been working on jumps. As a reference, I've gotten cork and flips down pat. I skied this past year on the 2011 Step-Ups in a 177 and loved them.

As the summer comes around, I've got a hook-up for Lines at about 40%-45% and get new skis about every year. Before you guys get upset that I get new ones every year, realize that:

A. The prices are dirt cheap with the hook-up

B. I'm really hard on skis

C. I work for my skis and do not get them from my parents

So with this in mind, is it wise to move up to the 181? I've skied on the 2010 177 Afterbangs and 2011 177 Step-Ups and loved the size. I'd be doing most of my rail stuff on the Step-Ups. Or would it be a good idea to try the Chronics?

Thanks guys.

*Sparknotes* I'm a Line whore, ski 177s, should I move to 181s? Jump focused.

Oh, and inb4 skatedeck construction sucks. I love the tech and couldn't be convinced otherwise. It's been the only ski tech in the last 4 years that hasn't snapped on me.

+K for help

I think you should try the 181 out, it's barely even longer and it will feel more stable on bigger jumps and at high speed. Do whatever you feel comfortable on, have you ever rode a ski at 180+?

Yes, 187 Mantras, given it wasn't center mounted obviously. I can do the weight no problem. I guess I'm more worried about it being versatile enough for jumps and rails.

It honestly comes with preference. Longer means you have more "space" to slide, but could mean a slower spin on and such. It more comes down to weight, height, skill etc.

My biggest concern is is that the 177's are amazing for me on rails and am a little concerned how it will affect my game if I move up to the 181's.

I appreciate the suggestions guys.

I am thinking about getting the Step-up too (but no more skate deck construction by the way) it has regular sidewalls, and race base

i also have the 177 stepups from 2011 and i love them too. i would go with the 181's cause there really wouldn't be an incredible difference, especially since they are center mounted.

question to lineskis if you see this- are this years stepups lighter than last years due to the hybrid sandwich/ skatedeck construction as opposed to complete skatedeck construction?

are you asking this? but definitely a notable or significant difference. also depends on if you grew at all between seasons, i suppose.

Are Line step ups poppy? I'm interested in buying them but I'm concerned about the weight. Or am I just being a little bitch?
