2012 end of the world interesting question

Now we all know the world wont end on December 21, 2012. But people will die that day just like they do everyday. And some of them will die instantly without knowing death is imminent for example gun shot to the head by sniper. One moment you're living next you're dead. Or maybe you've been out drinking at an end of the world party and you blackout proceed to keep drinking then die of alcohol poisoning or asphyxiation due to choking on your own vomit.
So I assuming that there is some sort of afterlife or soul consciousness after death. Will that person think that the world ended and the mayan prophecy came true?

Oh my god its proof. Theres no way its true now because the mayans would never be able to decide which time zone to put it in.

If the Mayans can predict the end of the world, then why couldn't they predict the demise of their own civilization and prevent it....?

They did. Two of their best prophesizers were prophesizing and they were reading some star charts and doing complex algebraic and calculus related equations and they realized the date their civilization was to end was going to be that very day. They looked up at eachother and simultaneously said OH MOTHER FUC... then there was a blinding flash of light and they were vaporized along with the rest of them. Boom logic.
